The Christian Mission

The Gospel continually teaches us about our mission as christians. This goes beyond what we can measure in distance or time. It doesn’t matter the geographical distance or the time it takes to fulfill this mission. What really matters is how deeply we carry it out and how our hearts are devoted to this purpose. Instructed by love “In fact, this is love for God: to keep His commands. And His commands are not burdensome” 1 John 5:3 The Bible instructs us in various ways and through various texts about the missionary role we have as christians. It invites us to live out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. When we think of missionary work, it’s common to think about trips to Africa or other countries. But Jesus urges us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves, spreading the love of the Father and His message of mercy and grace. The ‘Great Commandment,’ revealed by Jesus in Matthew 22:37-39, is the fundamental basis for the missionary call. Prayer: Right Intention

In the last text I talked about how our heart needs to be focused on the correct intention. We must follow God’s paths and desires, always working with the intention that His work is done everywhere through our lives and in the best possible way. We will never be perfect channels, but we are the imperfect instruments that He perfects at each new stage in the process of building His work. He doesn’t want you to be perfect so that He can use you, He just wants your heart to be generous and humble, totally focused on His voice. And that’s what I want to pray with you about right now. In the last texts I spoke to you about how the enemy wants to interfere in situations around us to affect our emotions and distance us from the Lord. But God cares more about your inner self and how strong you are in your faith than what happens around you. If you are in Him, and He is in you, nothing can shake you. There is life in pain!

In churches and in the Christian environment, one of the most discussed topics is the death of Christ, that is, His sacrifice. It’s been a while since I heard a preaching in which the pastor compared Jesus’ death to a woman’s labor. This sermon left a deep impression on me and I would like to share some insights with you. Worship the Perfect Love

Gratitude is also a type of worship. Being grateful and worshiping the Lord are natural responses of a heart that lives in His love. They are common actions of someone who loves the Father and His Kingdom. Love that drives “It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night.” Psalm 92:1-2 When we understand the size and beauty of God’s love and grace, it is natural for our hearts to overflow with love. This is praising God, expressing in words and actions how wonderful He is in every detail. We are loved unconditionally and that alone should be a reason to be grateful for the rest of our lives. But many times we stagnate by knowing that we are loved unconditionally. However, I want to tell you that this love does not exist to stop us. Knowing True Love

Here in Brazil, June is Valentine’s month. Dating is the initial step towards one day having a marriage and building a family, which is the greatest ministry. Love is something that needs to be watered and taken care of. Once it exists, it is necessary that we work to keep it firm and grounded. Loving like Christ “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ… For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. What does “tetelestai” mean?

In the text of John 19, which narrates the death of Jesus, His last words were: “It is finished”, meaning of the Greek word “Tetelestai”. “When He had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished’. With that, He bowed His head and gave up His Spirit.” John 19:30 Do you know what the weight of that word was when it was uttered by Jesus? Resting in uncomfortable situations

In Acts 12 we have access to a very interesting story. King Herod was persecuting the church and going against what it taught. In this persecution he ordered James to be killed and Peter arrested. But what seemed like the end for Peter became the story of a great miracle… Calling on the strength of the Father “It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread. After arresting him, he put him in prison…” Acts 12:1-4 I imagine the fear of Christians at that time. What have I done for God?

We go through some afflictions in our lives. We are human and it is normal that not everything is perfect. Even if your neighbor’s grass looks greener, it isn’t. We all go through difficulties. Highs and lows “For hardship does not spring from the soil, nor does trouble sprout from the ground. Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward. “But if I were you, I would appeal to God. I would lay my cause before him.” Job 5:6-8 There are times when difficulties are minor and quickly resolved without headaches. There were times when my family and I were at the best of our lives, spiritually as well as emotionally and financially. Soon after, everything seemed to fall apart. The Bible often has that part that we almost always skip when reading: the long and neglected genealogy. I understand why we skip. There are many names and that gives that feeling of wasting time in our devotional. But today I want to show you something very special. Attracted by the Presence

I wasn’t born in a Christian home, quite the contrary. Whenever I tell our testimony, I like to say that we didn’t meet Jesus, He found us, or rather, He attracted us to Himself. Last week I spoke to you about the passage in Acts 3 where Peter and John are brought to Peter and John who was looking for alms. This man brought to them asks for some coins, and is healed. In the last text I talked about the apostles turning that man’s eyes to God. Today I want to talk about what he was looking for when he went to them. Ask for help to solve!

These days I was at home absently playing with a Rubik’s Cube. I shuffled it all and after that I wanted to fix it again. Turns out I’m a denier tidying Rubik’s Cube and I always use an app that passes me all the way to tidying up. I usually use it just because I want to keep the cube tidy on my shelf after messing it up, so I’ve never had a problem. That day, God spoke to me through a Rubik’s Cube. Our hearts are like a Rubik’s Cube How many times have we messed up our whole life? We make decisions that are not God’s will, we act on impulse, we sin, we don’t repent, and this is repeated until we find ourselves in a mess that we created without knowing what to do. Prayer: return to your First Love

There is a term widely used to define those people who have just started to walk their path in faith: “First Love”. The use of this term is due to the fact that these people are extremely excited and euphoric about all this, in a gigantic level of passion for Jesus. We talk so much about these people and say things like, “wow, it’s so beautiful when we’re in first love”. But we forget that our life with God shouldn’t change after a while. It turns out that the more “time as Christians” we have, the more we limit our passion for Jesus. Prayer: Opening the Door to the Lord

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. – Revelation 3:20 As this passage reveals to us, the Lord desires to eat with us. I particularly like to have people over at home. I’m not the best person to decorate the table, but I like to separate my best glasses, cutlery and plates when I receive someone. That’s because my husband and I invite dear friends or people we want to be closer to to dinner at our house. Sharing a meal is a symbol of friendship or alliance. Jesus wants to be with us. What Does It Mean To Be a Living Stone?

I recently stopped by for a Bible study and was reminded of an old song played in my church when I was a kid. The song said that “we are living stones of the Temple of the Lord”. So I decided to look for the passage of this song. And the verse is in 1 Peter, chapter 2, verse 5: you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Jesus, the stone that gives us life This passage teaches us important points about the new covenant church. JESUS is the living stone that was rejected (1 Pet. 2:4). Other passages refer to Him as the cornerstone of God’s plan of redemption for mankind and as the cornerstone on which the church is built.
