The right place

Throughout life, we are constantly called to make choices. Some seem obvious, attractive, and full of opportunities. Others require faith, patience, and trust in God. The problem is that not everything that looks good to our eyes is truly what is best for our future. The Bible shows us this through the story of Abraham and Lot, a narrative that remains extremely relevant for everyone who desires to live according to God’s will. Appearances can be deceiving “Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)” Genesis 13:10 There came a time when Abraham’s and Lot’s flocks had grown so much that the land could no longer support them together. To avoid conflict, Abraham proposed that they separate and gave Lot the opportunity to choose first where he would go. Lot saw a place that, from a human perspective, seemed like the perfect choice. The plain was fertile, abundant, and promising. Everything pointed to prosperity. But Lot evaluated only what he could see. He observed the appearance of the land but ignored […]

Prayer: Running from religious fear

In the previous text, we talked a little about religious OCD and how it takes our focus away from what Christ truly expects from us. Today, I want to invite you to pray with me about this subject, so that we may feel free in the Father’s presence, seeking Him with love, gratitude, and true peace. You do not need to pray exactly as I will write here. Open your heart genuinely to God. But it will be a pleasure to accompany you in this moment of prayer and seeking. Prayer Father, I know that many times my mind is filled with fear, guilt, and thoughts that steal the peace of my faith. I know that You do not want me to live imprisoned by spiritual anxiety, constantly trying to earn a love that was already given to me on the cross. Teach me to rest in You and to remember that Your love is not sustained by my performance, but by Your infinite grace. When intrusive thoughts come, when the fear of condemnation tries to dominate my heart, and when I feel spiritually overwhelmed, help me remember Your truth. Your Word says that I was not given a spirit […]

Religious OCD: Fear that distorts faith

Spiritual life should be a place of peace, hope, and relationship with God. But for some people, faith ends up becoming a constant source of fear, guilt, and anxiety. The so-called “religious OCD” is a manifestation of obsessive-compulsive disorder linked to morality, sin, and spiritual issues. Often, those who suffer from it don’t realize they are facing a disorder. The person believes they are simply “seeking God more,” when in reality, they live trapped in cycles of fear, intrusive thoughts, and compulsions that steal the freedom of faith. Faith generating fear “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 Religious OCD usually manifests itself through obsessive thoughts related to sin, condemnation, blasphemy, or a constant fear of displeasing God. These thoughts are unwanted but arise repeatedly, causing intense distress. Many people spend hours repeating prayers, asking forgiveness countless times for the same issue, or mentally reviewing their actions, trying to figure out whether they have sinned or not. The problem is not in prayer, faith, or the pursuit of holiness; it lies in the extreme fear and anxiety that dominate the relationship with God. True faith draws […]

Prayer: Meet me in the secret place

Father, today I stand before You, acknowledging that many times I have allowed busyness, distractions, and the need for approval to steal from me the value of the secret place. Forgive me for the times I sought appearance more than intimacy, and recognition more than Your presence. I do not want to live a superficial faith, but a true relationship with You, built away from prying eyes and close to Your heart. Teach me once again to return to the secret place. May my prayer time not be a matter of obligation, but of a deep desire to encounter You. May I learn to seek You not only for what You can do for me, but for who You are. Give me a heart that delights in Your presence, that longs to hear Your voice and remain with You even in silence. Holy Spirit, reveal everything that has taken the center of my heart. If there is vanity, spiritual pride, or a need for human validation within me, I ask You: transform me. May I not live to appear spiritual before people, but to be known by You. Form in me a sincere and profound life, aligned with Your will. […]

The crisis of life “with” God

The crisis of life “with” God

We live in a generation that values what is visible, shareable, and recognized. In the midst of this, life with God faces a silent risk: losing the value of what is done in secret. What should be the foundation of our faith—intimacy with the Father—is often replaced by a spirituality that is visible, yet empty. Jesus taught us a completely different path—a path where what is done in secret is not optional, but essential. Where It all begins “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen…” Matthew 6:6 A true life with God is not born in public, but in secret. It is there, away from human eyes, that the relationship is built, the heart is aligned, and faith becomes real. Jesus was not only teaching about prayer, but about priorities. What we do in secret reveals where our heart truly is. When that place loses value, faith begins to grow shallow, and everything starts to feel difficult. Without secrecy, there is no depth. Without intimacy, there is no real transformation. Public expressions may impress, but it is the secret place that sustains. I know there are days when […]

New beginnings

Ruth’s story doesn’t belong only to the past; it resonates deeply today. In a world marked by loss, unexpected changes, and difficult new beginnings, her journey reveals that God continues to write stories of redemption amidst pain. Ruth didn’t have an easy life. She faced grief, uncertainty, and displacement. Yet, her faith, her choices, and her perseverance led her to experience something far greater than she could have imagined. And this also speaks directly to us today. In the midst of pain “But Ruth said, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.’” Ruth 1:16 Ruth loses everything that, humanly speaking, gave stability to her life. A widow, a foreigner, and without guarantees, she decides not to turn back. Ruth’s choice to stay with Naomi reveals a faith that doesn’t depend on comfort. Today, many people face similar losses—emotional, familial, professional. In the midst of all this, the decision to remain steadfast in God continues to be an act of faith. It’s not about having answers, but about choosing to trust even […]

Judgment, revelation, and redemption

When reading the narrative of the plagues in Egypt, in the book of Exodus, a question often arises: why didn’t God free His people with just one word? At first glance, it may seem like unnecessary suffering, even cruelty. But in reality, each plague carried a profound revelation about who God is. Egypt was a society filled with gods, where every area of life was attributed to a deity. What God does there is not only to free Israel — it is to reveal His absolute sovereignty over everything and everyone, showing that there is no other besides Him. False gods “…and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.” Exodus 12:12 The plagues sent to Egypt were not random. They struck directly at what the Egyptians worshiped, confronting their gods and exposing their powerlessness. The Nile, considered sacred, turned to blood. Animals that were worshiped were struck. Plagues like locusts, flies, and darkness came upon the land, showing that none of the gods of Egyptian culture had the power to stop the work of the true God. Even the sun, represented by one of Egypt’s chief deities, could not prevent the darkness. Each […]

Prayer: Convicts

Father, I know the story of the resurrection, but I don’t always live with the conviction it should generate in me. Today I ask You: transform my knowledge into living faith, because I know that the resurrection is not just an event, but the foundation of my hope and my life in You. Just as the disciples who moved from fear to boldness, I also want to experience this transformation. Many times I let myself be carried away by doubt, insecurity, and the circumstances around me. But I know that Your truth is greater than what I feel. Strengthen my faith so that I do not live guided by what I see, but by the certainty of who You are. I believe that the resurrection of Jesus conquered death and changed everything. I don’t want to live as someone who merely heard this story, but as someone who was deeply marked by it. Generate in me an unshakable conviction, a faith that remains even on difficult days, remembering that death does not have the final word and that in You there is life and victory. Holy Spirit, work within me a mature, firm, and constant faith. May I not waver […]

Between resurrection and conviction

The resurrection of Jesus was not merely an isolated event, but the beginning of a profound transformation in the lives of the disciples. The week following Easter Sunday reveals a process of understanding, faith, and restoration. In that interval, we see how God works in the human heart, even amid doubt, fear, and uncertainty. From confusion to revelation In the first days after the resurrection, the disciples were deeply shaken. Even with the empty tomb, they still did not fully understand what had happened. The pain of the crucifixion was still fresh, and hope seemed fragile. It was in this setting that Jesus began to reveal Himself in a personal and intentional way. In John 20:14–16, Mary Magdalene encounters Jesus, but initially does not recognize Him. It is only when He calls her by name that her eyes are opened. This shows us that the risen Christ continues to reveal Himself in an intimate and personal way. Likewise, in Luke 24:30–31, the disciples on the road to Emmaus only recognize Him at the breaking of bread, a gesture that points to communion and spiritual revelation. These encounters show that faith is born not merely from external evidence, but from a […]

Prayer: The sound of worship

Father, I praise You because all creation reveals Your greatness, and yet You have chosen to hear the sound of my worship. The heavens, the earth, and everything that exists glorify You, but You have given me the privilege of knowing You and responding with a praise that comes from the heart. Thank You because I can draw near to You not only as creation, but as a child. Teach me not to live a worship that is automatic, empty, or distracted. I don’t want to merely exist before You—I want to recognize You, love You, and honor You in a conscious and intimate way. May my worship not depend on circumstances, but on the revelation of who You are. Even in difficult days, may my soul choose to worship You. Thank You because my worship carries redemption through Jesus. I do not praise You only as Creator, but as Savior, as Father. Your love found me, restored me, and brought me back into Your presence. May I never forget this. May every word that comes out of my mouth carry gratitude for all that You have already done for me. God, awaken in me a sensitivity to hear Your […]

Prayer: Death that gives birth to life

God, I thank You because You do not merely allow me to dream about what is great, but You call me to live what is Eternal. I am taught every day that each new spiritual step requires the death of my own “self,” of my plans, desires, and will, so that Your will may flourish in me. Give me the courage to surrender completely, knowing that only in You do I find true life. Help me understand that the journey with You is not designed to be comfortable, but to be transformative. I do not want to measure my value by what I achieve or control; I want my surrender to be driven by the pursuit of a deeper and deeper relationship with You. May I not fear the “deaths” You allow—open my eyes to see them as doors leading to the purpose prepared for me by Your hands. When the world leads me to see the process of surrender as frustration or abandonment, remind my heart that You do not want to leave me empty-handed, but to create space in my hands to receive what is greater and Eternal, filling me continuously. Turn my struggles into faith, my surrender […]

Steps of death and life

Steps of death and life

The journey with God is not a ladder of personal achievements, but an altar of daily surrender. Every new spiritual level, every greater responsibility, and every deeper purpose require something from us: surrender. In the Kingdom of God, growth does not mean accumulating, but emptying. There is a truth we often avoid: every spiritual step carries a death. The death of pride, of personal plans, of human expectations, and often of what we insist on calling a “dream.” But it is precisely in this place—the death of our “self”—that we find true life. God never calls us to lose, but to exchange. He invites us to surrender what is limited in order to receive what is Eternal. The more we pour out at His feet, the more room we create for Him to live in us. Death that gives birth to life “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24 Jesus made it clear that the principle of the Kingdom is death that produces life. The seed must be buried and seemingly “lost” in order to bear […]

Strengthened by prayer

Father, I come before You, bowed down, recognizing that I do not have enough strength in myself to face life’s battles. Thank You for calling me close every day, not so that I would be ashamed of my limits and weaknesses, but so that I may find strength in You. May I seek You more and more, finding each day a deeper intimacy with You and the peace that only Your presence can give. I want to go deeper, God. Many times I want to move forward through my own efforts instead of through prayer that is born from a surrendered heart. Forgive me for trying to live the Christian life based on my own abilities and strategies rather than in constant dependence on You. Teach me that bent knees are not a sign of weakness, but of spiritual wisdom—where I find clearer direction than in any human plan. Holy Spirit, dwell in my heart and teach it to pour out worries, fears, and plans at Your feet. May I not seek only quick answers, but Your face and Your presence. May I not be led by my feelings or my own will; I want to live in constant communion […]

On your knees

On your knees

We live in a generation that desires quick results, supernatural experiences, and remarkable stories to tell. We want miracles, open doors, and powerful testimonies. But often, we are not willing to go through the process that produces them. In the Kingdom of God, our knees take us farther than our feet. The spiritual life is not sustained by haste, but by dependence. It is not about chasing opportunities, but about pouring ourselves out in His presence. Before great public victories, there are secret encounters with God. And it is there, in the place of prayer, that everything begins to be transformed. The pressure that produces oil “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:5–6 “Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed” (James 5:16). The prayer of the righteous is powerful because it is born from surrender. We want oil, but we forget that oil is only produced when the olive is pressed. A testimony is not born from comfort, but from process. In 2 Kings 4, the […]

Prayer: Leave the future

God, I thank You because You teach me daily that true faith is not about knowing everything before acting, but about obeying what has already been revealed to us. Just as Abraham obeyed without having all the answers, I also want to learn to trust You even when I do not understand the whole path. Give me a heart willing to obey today. When anxiety about the future tries to paralyze me, teach me to rest in the present. I do not want to live calculating challenges that have not yet arrived, nor measuring my strength by what I imagine I will need tomorrow. Help me to live each day with the confidence that Your grace will be renewed according to every need, exactly as You have already promised me. Help me to number my days. I want to look at the “staff” that is in my hand, what has already been entrusted to me now, instead of becoming anxious about what has not yet happened. Teach me to recognize that obedience begins in the present, and that Your direction is revealed step by step, under Your constant providence. Holy Spirit, renew my faith and purify my heart so that […]

Return to the present

Return to the present

“By faith Abraham, when called, obeyed and went to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, even though he did not know where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8 We live in a generation that wants explanations before obedience. We want clarity, guarantees, and security before taking any step. But in the Kingdom of God, the path is often the opposite: first we obey, then we understand. The space between obeying today and God explaining later is called faith. Faith does not eliminate questions, but it teaches us to walk even while they remain. We will not always have all the answers before acting, but we will have enough direction for the next step. God allows certain uncertainties not to confuse us, but to form us. Obedience without immediate explanation builds trust. When we learn to trust God’s character, even without understanding His ways, our faith stops being circumstantial and becomes relational. Do not measure the future “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34 A common mistake, in moments when we do not have clear or specific answers, is trying to calculate future challenges […]

Circumstantial joy

Circumstantial joy

“You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11 We live in a world that associates joy with places, people, positions, and achievements. We believe we will only be happy when something changes: a relationship, an environment, a job title, or a season of life. But this way of thinking carries a silent trap. If joy comes from external sources, it will always be unstable. When we expect others to make us happy, we are asking of them something they may not even possess. We demand that people, churches, jobs, and situations supply a need they were never meant to fill. This expectation generates frustration, abandonment, and a cycle of empty new beginnings. Scripture confronts us with a deeper truth: true joy does not arise from circumstances, but from the presence of God. If we do not believe this, we fail to access what has already been offered to us. The temptation to give up “For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 We tend to give up when something stops making emotional sense. This is one of the greatest […]

Prayer: God’s dreams

Lord God, we thank You because even when our plans fail and our paths seem uncertain, You remain in control of everything. We are grateful because we are not abandoned in the face of frustration, but we can trust that You are Sovereign and care for every detail of our lives. Help us to recognize that our dreams, even when they are good, need to be placed in Your hands, trusting that Yours are far greater. Forgive us for the times when we trust more in our own understanding than in Your guidance. When frustration arises because things do not happen as we imagined, remind our hearts that Your eyes see far beyond what we can comprehend and that You are always redirecting our steps toward something better. Teach us to rest in You and not in our own efforts. Father, teach us to respond biblically to frustration and anxiety. Instead of lamenting or complaining, may we bring everything before You in prayer and with gratitude, knowing that the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts. May our faith not depend on circumstances, but on the certainty that Your hands are at work even when we do not […]

Frustrated

Frustrated

Each new “cycle” is usually accompanied by well-defined plans, goals, and expectations. We dream, organize paths, and imagine outcomes. However, when reality does not align with what we planned, frustration arises. Everyday Christian life teaches us that frustration is not the end of the journey, but it can be the point where God begins to lead us into something much greater. God remains in control “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9 Frustration arises when we place too much trust in what we have planned and forget that God sees beyond what we can see. When our plans fail, it does not mean that God is late, but that He is redirecting us. Surrendering our plans to the Lord is an exercise of daily faith. Psalm 37:5 invites us to trust, rest, and wait for God to act. Frustration becomes lighter when we understand that we do not carry the weight of the future alone. God not only knows the way—He walks with us. In everyday Christian life, learning to deal with frustrated plans is learning to depend less on our own control and more on divine direction. The failure of an […]

Prayer: A steady journey

Lord God, we thank You for the special moments that warm our hearts, for the celebrations that renew our hope, and for the new beginnings that remind us of Your love. Thank You because, in every moment, You call us closer to You. Help us not to limit our faith to dates or emotions, but to live a constant and true relationship with You. Forgive us when we allow routine to silence Your calling in our lives. Many times, when the calendar turns and ordinary days arrive, we become distracted and lose focus on Your Kingdom. Teach us to follow Christ with daily faithfulness, recognizing that the same God who speaks in special moments continues to speak in the ordinary moments of life. Strengthen our hearts to truly live the mission You have entrusted to us. Help us understand that Jesus’ “Go” has no expiration date and does not depend on circumstances. May this lead us to love, serve, teach, and testify to Your Word every day, making our lives a living instrument of Your Kingdom, even when enthusiasm fades. Lord, consecrate every detail of our routine. May everything we do, in every situation, be done for Your glory. Transform […]

Reunion

As soon as Christmas Day passes, everything around us seems to quiet down again. The rush to buy gifts, the ingredients for the dinner, organizing the house… Everything settles, and we simply wait for the new year to begin. Christmas leads us into a reunion with Jesus and His truth, and the turn of the year soon after brings a sense of new opportunities and a renewed hope. A time of realignment “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying: ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God.’” Revelation 21:3 Christmas marks more than the birth of Jesus; it also represents a reunion. The God who, in the beginning, walked with humanity and was separated by sin, chooses once again to dwell among us. In the midst of the year-end rush and the expectations of a new beginning, Christmas invites us back to the place we were never meant to leave: the presence of God. The beginning of a new year often awakens reflections, adjustments, and resolutions. But before any goal, God’s greatest invitation is to […]

The silence of the birth

The silence of the birth

“Thus says the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel: ‘In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.’” Isaiah 30:15 Before the birth of Jesus, the world went through about four hundred years of prophetic silence. From the last announcement in Malachi until the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, there were no records of new direct revelations from God. For many, this silence could be interpreted as absence, but in truth, it was part of a plan carefully carried out by the Lord. God’s silence is not empty, nor does it mean abandonment. It carries intention, preparation, and alignment. While there was no prophetic voice, God was arranging times, people, cultures, and circumstances for the greatest event in history: the incarnation of the Son. The same happens with us. There are seasons when God seems silent, but that does not mean He has stopped working. Silence precedes spiritual births, maturity, and the fulfillment of promises. Not every silence is a “no”; often, it is simply a “not yet.” A guarded promise “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and dreadful day of the […]

Prayer: Preparing ourselves

God, in a season when our days are filled with commitments, lists, and expectations, we pause before You to acknowledge that many times we organize everything around us, yet neglect the space within us.We ask for forgiveness for the times our schedules have been too full for Your presence. Teach us to slow down, to be silent, and to remember that what matters most is not what we prepare externally, but the place we open in our hearts to receive You. Jesus, just as on that night when there was no room for You in the inn, we recognize that at times there is no space in our routine for Your voice. We clean the house, plan gatherings, and dream about the new year, but leave our hearts disordered. Today, willingly, we open the door. Remove from us anxiety, the need for control, and haste, so that You may not be just a visitor, but the One who remains with us. Help us align our expectations with Yours. In the midst of earthly plans, teach us to prepare the way for Your presence. May we not be merely excited about dates, but passionate about walking with You every day. May […]
