Prayer: Guarding my steps
Father, I know that many times I make decisions based only on what my eyes can see. Just as Lot saw a land that was beautiful, fertile, and full of possibilities, I am also tempted to choose paths based on appearance, comfort, and immediate opportunities. Forgive me for the times when I considered only the visible benefits and failed to seek Your direction. Give me a sensitive heart to discern not only what seems good, but what is truly part of Your will for my life. Help me understand that the environments I choose to remain in deeply influence who I become. Guard my heart from influences that pull me away from Your presence, and strengthen my faith to remain in places that promote spiritual growth, even when they do not seem the most attractive in human eyes. May I never exchange Your peace for temporary advantages, nor Your presence for empty promises that do not come from You. Father, give me wisdom to recognize the moments when I need to leave behind certain seasons, relationships, habits, or environments. Many times I cling to what I already know out of fear of change or uncertainty. But I know that when […]

Procrastinators
We live in a tired generation. We constantly hear about procrastination, discouragement, and the difficulty of completing even simple daily tasks. Many times, our lives seem organized on the outside, but inside there is an overwhelmed mind with no strength to begin. Getting out of bed feels difficult. Small tasks become gigantic. Simple things remain unfinished and, without realizing it, we accumulate pending matters that increase our anxiety even more. Procrastination is not always born from laziness. Sometimes, it comes from mental exhaustion, emotional overload, and a mind that can no longer handle so many demands at the same time. And perhaps the answer is not in doing more, but in slowing down, breathing, and learning to walk one step at a time before God again. The body stops “For he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.” Psalm 103:14 Our minds were not created to carry everything at once. When we look at a huge list of responsibilities, pressures, and expectations, the brain tends to search for a place of comfort and escape. That is why, many times, we become paralyzed even before small tasks. Not because we do not want to do them, but […]

Prayer: Through the Son
Father, today I stand before You acknowledging that many times I pray without truly understanding the weight of speaking “in the name of Jesus.” Forgive me for the times I have turned prayer into just a wish list or repeated words without depth. I don’t want to use Jesus’ name as a formula, but to live in true alignment with the Son’s will and with what glorifies Your heart. Lord, teach me to pray with sincerity, submission, and dependence. May my words not spring only from my emotions or my interests, but from the desire to live as Christ would live. I want to learn to seek first Your Kingdom, trusting that Your will is perfect, good, and far greater than any plan I could build on my own. Jesus, thank You because it is through You that I have access to the Father. I recognize that I do not come before God through my own merits, but through the grace poured out on the cross. May I never forget that You are the way, the truth, and the life, and that every true prayer first passes through a heart surrendered to Your presence. Holy Spirit, transform my way of […]

“In the name of Jesus”
Every week we talk about a topic and then pray about it. And today, I want to invite you to reflect on an expression that is probably part of almost all your prayers: “in the name of Jesus.” We learn this early on in church. We end our prayers this way almost automatically. But do we understand the true spiritual weight of this statement? Because saying “in the name of Jesus” goes far beyond a religious phrase; it is a posture of submission, alignment, and surrender. Magic formula “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” John 14:13-14 Many times, without realizing it, we treat this expression as if it were a spiritual password for God to answer faster or fulfill what we want. A “priority line” in prayer. As if simply adding “in the name of Jesus” to the end of the prayer were enough to validate any request. But Jesus never taught this as an empty formula. Notice the center of John 14: the glory of the Father. Asking in Jesus’ name […]

Religious OCD: Fear that distorts faith
Spiritual life should be a place of peace, hope, and relationship with God. But for some people, faith ends up becoming a constant source of fear, guilt, and anxiety. The so-called “religious OCD” is a manifestation of obsessive-compulsive disorder linked to morality, sin, and spiritual issues. Often, those who suffer from it don’t realize they are facing a disorder. The person believes they are simply “seeking God more,” when in reality, they live trapped in cycles of fear, intrusive thoughts, and compulsions that steal the freedom of faith. Faith generating fear “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 Religious OCD usually manifests itself through obsessive thoughts related to sin, condemnation, blasphemy, or a constant fear of displeasing God. These thoughts are unwanted but arise repeatedly, causing intense distress. Many people spend hours repeating prayers, asking forgiveness countless times for the same issue, or mentally reviewing their actions, trying to figure out whether they have sinned or not. The problem is not in prayer, faith, or the pursuit of holiness; it lies in the extreme fear and anxiety that dominate the relationship with God. True faith draws […]

Prayer: I Surrender
Father, today I stand before You acknowledging that You are the God of new beginnings. Even when everything seems lost, when cycles end and paths break apart, You remain the One who restores, who lifts up, and who writes new stories. I thank You because Your mercy is never exhausted, and Your love is greater than any mistake, pain, or past that I carry. Many times I feel stuck to what has already passed — wrong decisions, missed opportunities, difficult seasons. But today I choose to trust that You do not define me by my past, but rather by Your purpose. Teach me to look ahead, to believe that new beginnings are possible in You. I want to walk in faith, even when I cannot yet see everything clearly. I ask You to strengthen me to live in this new season. May I not only desire to start over, but have the courage to take different steps. As Your Word says, I want to be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, knowing that I do not depend on my own strength, but on what You release over me every day. Transform my mind and my heart. Remove […]

Judgment, revelation, and redemption
When reading the narrative of the plagues in Egypt, in the book of Exodus, a question often arises: why didn’t God free His people with just one word? At first glance, it may seem like unnecessary suffering, even cruelty. But in reality, each plague carried a profound revelation about who God is. Egypt was a society filled with gods, where every area of life was attributed to a deity. What God does there is not only to free Israel — it is to reveal His absolute sovereignty over everything and everyone, showing that there is no other besides Him. False gods “…and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.” Exodus 12:12 The plagues sent to Egypt were not random. They struck directly at what the Egyptians worshiped, confronting their gods and exposing their powerlessness. The Nile, considered sacred, turned to blood. Animals that were worshiped were struck. Plagues like locusts, flies, and darkness came upon the land, showing that none of the gods of Egyptian culture had the power to stop the work of the true God. Even the sun, represented by one of Egypt’s chief deities, could not prevent the darkness. Each […]

Prayer: Seen by God
Father, today I stand before You acknowledging that You see beyond what our eyes can see. You are not impressed by appearance, by beautiful words, or by what others see in me, but You search the heart. Therefore, I ask You: align my inner self with You, because I know that it is from within that true life with God is born. Many times I worry more about what people think than about what You say about me. But Your Word teaches me that man looks at the outward appearance, while Your eyes are turned toward the heart. Remove from me every need for human approval and form in me a heart that is upright, sincere, and fully devoted to You. Separate me from the weeds, make me like You, and guide me fully toward Your purpose. May I live for Your Kingdom and no longer live for myself. I do not want to live a superficial faith, based on appearance or religiosity. I want to live a real, deep faith that remains even when no one is watching. Because I know that You desire truth in the innermost being and are pleased with a broken and humble heart before […]

What God really sees
We live in a world where appearance is often confused with essence. People may seem spiritual, righteous, and aligned with God, but only He knows what is truly in the heart. The parable of the weeds and the wheat confronts us with this truth: not everything that grows together belongs to the same purpose. More than seeming, God calls us to be. And in the end, that is what will make all the difference. Same field, different nature “Let both grow together until the harvest.” Matthew 13:30 Jesus explained that the weeds and the wheat grow together in the same field, sharing the same environment, the same soil, and even the same conditions. To human eyes, it is often difficult to tell them apart. This reality teaches us that being in the same place — in the church, in a Christian community, or in environments of faith — does not mean having the same essence. The weed may even resemble the wheat for a time, but its nature is different. Therefore, the calling is not merely to be present, but to be transformed. God is not impressed by outward proximity, but by inward truth. Essence above appearance “Thus, by their […]

What if…
How many times does the “what if…” paralyze us? “What if I don’t know what to say?”“What if they reject my faith?”“What if I am not prepared?” These questions, although common, cannot become excuses to ignore what God has already called us to. The Great Commission is not a suggestion, just an option presented by God. It is a direct call for all who follow Christ. And this call does not depend on perfection, but on willingness. “Go” is a commandment “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Matthew 28:19 Jesus left a clear order before ascending to heaven. He didn’t say “if you want to,” nor “when you feel ready,” but He declared with authority what His disciples should do, seeking empowerment in Him to follow through. This instruction reveals that evangelizing is not an exclusive function of leaders or missionaries, but of every Christian. The “Go” does not depend on context, personality, or the ideal moment; it is an essential part of our faith. This is everyday life. He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the […]

Prayer: Surrender to the Source
Father, I know that many times I act as if I were the one who is always right. How often have I trusted more in my own understanding than in Your wisdom, forgetting that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7). Today I surrender, recognizing that true wisdom does not come from within me, but from You. I confess my pride. Many times I struggle to accept correction, to listen, and to acknowledge when I am wrong. My ego speaks louder than Your voice. Therefore, I ask You—break in me everything that prevents me from having a teachable heart that is sensitive to Your direction. Teach me to trust less in myself and more in You. May my heart not be grounded in my own opinions, but in Your truth. As Your Word says, what I value directs my life, so align my desires, thoughts, and decisions with Your will, so that I will not lose my way by trusting in myself. Holy Spirit, work in me the humility to recognize when I am wrong and the maturity to accept and allow myself to be shaped by Your hands of love and justice. Even when […]

The Owner of reason
Chapter 27 of the Book of Numbers presents one of the most striking scenes in the Old Testament: a moment in which God Himself affirms the justice of women who dared to stand up for themselves. Amid the preparation of the people of Israel to enter the Promised Land, a story emerges that profoundly reveals the Lord’s care for each of His daughters. The daughters of Zelophehad (Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah) appear in a context where culture and law favored only men. Even so, they rise up—not in rebellion, but with faith and a sense of justice—showing that God has never been indifferent to female dignity. Standing up against injustice “Our father died in the wilderness…. Why should our father’s name disappear from his clan because he had no son? Give us property among our father’s relatives.” Numbers 27:3–4 The five women knew that, according to the law, they were not entitled to their father’s inheritance. However, they refused to accept silence as an answer. Instead, they went to Moses, the leaders, and the entire assembly to present their case. This moment reveals something powerful: faith is also about taking a stand. They were not challenging God, but […]

Eating the forbidden fruit
From the beginning, God knew everything. He knew what had been, what is, and what was yet to come. He knew the lies we have already told, the sins we have hidden, and even the mistakes we will still commit. So the inevitable question arises when we read Genesis: if He knew that Adam would fall, that Eve would be deceived, and that the serpent would be there, why did He place the tree in the garden? This is one of humanity’s oldest questions. Some even ask: Was God inconsistent? Selfish? Did He create an unfair test? But perhaps we are looking at the story through the wrong lens. The tree does not reveal a divine flaw; it reveals the depth of God’s love. Love requires a choice “And the Lord God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Genesis 2:16-17 The presence of the tree reveals something fundamental: God created children, not robots. Love without the possibility of choice is not love—it is slavery. For obedience to have value, the possibility […]

Strengthened by prayer
Father, I come before You, bowed down, recognizing that I do not have enough strength in myself to face life’s battles. Thank You for calling me close every day, not so that I would be ashamed of my limits and weaknesses, but so that I may find strength in You. May I seek You more and more, finding each day a deeper intimacy with You and the peace that only Your presence can give. I want to go deeper, God. Many times I want to move forward through my own efforts instead of through prayer that is born from a surrendered heart. Forgive me for trying to live the Christian life based on my own abilities and strategies rather than in constant dependence on You. Teach me that bent knees are not a sign of weakness, but of spiritual wisdom—where I find clearer direction than in any human plan. Holy Spirit, dwell in my heart and teach it to pour out worries, fears, and plans at Your feet. May I not seek only quick answers, but Your face and Your presence. May I not be led by my feelings or my own will; I want to live in constant communion […]

Prayer: Leave the future
God, I thank You because You teach me daily that true faith is not about knowing everything before acting, but about obeying what has already been revealed to us. Just as Abraham obeyed without having all the answers, I also want to learn to trust You even when I do not understand the whole path. Give me a heart willing to obey today. When anxiety about the future tries to paralyze me, teach me to rest in the present. I do not want to live calculating challenges that have not yet arrived, nor measuring my strength by what I imagine I will need tomorrow. Help me to live each day with the confidence that Your grace will be renewed according to every need, exactly as You have already promised me. Help me to number my days. I want to look at the “staff” that is in my hand, what has already been entrusted to me now, instead of becoming anxious about what has not yet happened. Teach me to recognize that obedience begins in the present, and that Your direction is revealed step by step, under Your constant providence. Holy Spirit, renew my faith and purify my heart so that […]

Circumstantial joy
“You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11 We live in a world that associates joy with places, people, positions, and achievements. We believe we will only be happy when something changes: a relationship, an environment, a job title, or a season of life. But this way of thinking carries a silent trap. If joy comes from external sources, it will always be unstable. When we expect others to make us happy, we are asking of them something they may not even possess. We demand that people, churches, jobs, and situations supply a need they were never meant to fill. This expectation generates frustration, abandonment, and a cycle of empty new beginnings. Scripture confronts us with a deeper truth: true joy does not arise from circumstances, but from the presence of God. If we do not believe this, we fail to access what has already been offered to us. The temptation to give up “For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 We tend to give up when something stops making emotional sense. This is one of the greatest […]

Prayer: Beyond the answers
God, I recognize that many times I run after answers, spiritual maps, and clear directions, but You call me first of all to Your presence—and that is what I want to seek. Help me understand that it is not merely knowing plans, but knowing You deeply, that transforms my steps and my heart. May I never seek decisions before truly seeking You. Father, I ask that You teach me to hear Your voice—not just occasionally, but continuously, with sensitivity and courage to follow You in faith. Jesus said that His sheep hear Your voice and follow You (John 10:27), and I want to be someone who recognizes Your voice in the silence, in everyday life, and even in the simple choices of life. Enable me to trust You with all my heart, not only when answers are easy or quick. I want to find You first, and then have the paths and calling revealed. Teach me not to depend on my own understanding; I want to align my ways and steps with Yours, according to Your paths and dreams. Lord, I ask that Your presence be the center of my daily life. When I seek first the Kingdom of God […]

Remain in His presence
It is common to ask, “What is God’s will for my life?” In the midst of decisions, expectations, and dreams, we seek clear, quick, and definitive answers. We want to understand our calling, our mission, and the next step. However, many times God does not respond with a complete map, but with an invitation: remain in His presence. God’s will is not, most of the time, revealed all at once. It is discerned along the journey, through daily obedience that builds intimacy with Him. Before revealing destinations, God shapes hearts. Before showing the “where,” He works on the “who.” The presence of God is not a reward for those who get it right, but the path for those who desire to walk with Him. When we understand this, we stop running after answers and begin to rest in the One who guides every step. God’s will is born in His presence “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:4–5 Moses did not ask for direction first; he asked for presence. In Exodus 33:14, God […]

Prayer: God’s dreams
Lord God, we thank You because even when our plans fail and our paths seem uncertain, You remain in control of everything. We are grateful because we are not abandoned in the face of frustration, but we can trust that You are Sovereign and care for every detail of our lives. Help us to recognize that our dreams, even when they are good, need to be placed in Your hands, trusting that Yours are far greater. Forgive us for the times when we trust more in our own understanding than in Your guidance. When frustration arises because things do not happen as we imagined, remind our hearts that Your eyes see far beyond what we can comprehend and that You are always redirecting our steps toward something better. Teach us to rest in You and not in our own efforts. Father, teach us to respond biblically to frustration and anxiety. Instead of lamenting or complaining, may we bring everything before You in prayer and with gratitude, knowing that the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts. May our faith not depend on circumstances, but on the certainty that Your hands are at work even when we do not […]

Frustrated
Each new “cycle” is usually accompanied by well-defined plans, goals, and expectations. We dream, organize paths, and imagine outcomes. However, when reality does not align with what we planned, frustration arises. Everyday Christian life teaches us that frustration is not the end of the journey, but it can be the point where God begins to lead us into something much greater. God remains in control “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9 Frustration arises when we place too much trust in what we have planned and forget that God sees beyond what we can see. When our plans fail, it does not mean that God is late, but that He is redirecting us. Surrendering our plans to the Lord is an exercise of daily faith. Psalm 37:5 invites us to trust, rest, and wait for God to act. Frustration becomes lighter when we understand that we do not carry the weight of the future alone. God not only knows the way—He walks with us. In everyday Christian life, learning to deal with frustrated plans is learning to depend less on our own control and more on divine direction. The failure of an […]

The call continues
The special dates on the Christian calendar invite us to reflection, fellowship, and reunion with God. End-of-year services and messages about new beginnings warm the heart and renew hope. However, when the calendar turns and January arrives with its routine, God’s call must not lose its voice in our lives. Faith is not seasonal, and the Kingdom does not operate according to commemorative dates. Following Christ is a daily commitment that goes beyond emotional moments and reaches into the ordinary flow of life. The same God who spoke during a special service continues to speak on an ordinary Monday. The call does not end when the celebrations end; it continues to be lived out with consistency. Expiration date “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus ends His earthly ministry with the clear command to “go.” There is no deadline, no specific season, and no requirement for a favorable emotional state. The Great Commission is not limited to spiritually intense […]

Prayer: Turned toward Christ
Father, I know that many times I’ve befriended what killed Your Son. The world offers sin that no longer seems so frightening. It’s presented in a way that looks comforting and normal. God, break the earthly ties that bind me, clothe me with Your truth, and free me from the silent slavery that pulls me away from You. Jesus conquered sin and triumphed over death, yet so many of us still stay close to what destroys. Purify my heart, Lord. Help me see that sin is not entertainment, rest, or escape, but separation from Your presence. Make me watchful and aware that the enemy advances slowly upon a sleeping heart. I want to surrender daily to Your Spirit and seek Your presence in every moment of my days. Reveal where there are errors and weaknesses in me. Lead me in the right path and make me sensitive to discern. Keep me away from places where what should be hated has been normalized. And if it is Your will for me to walk through such places, strengthen me to be a light, giving me clarity with every step. I long for a holy fear — not a paralyzing one, but the […]
