What would be the world without mothers?

What would be the world without mothers?

Total chaos! Mothers are essential to society, they have an arduous task of teaching, caring and loving. As such, they have a strong influence on their children and their love is incomparable. The characteristics of a good mother reinforce the woman’s structure as a whole, which is possible to notice even when she plays other roles as a professional or wife.

I believe that being a mother is a tremendous profession, because with the day to day it is necessary to manage crises, to be a nurse, a teacher, a psychologist, a chef, an economist, and we could include in this list a series of other professions. My mother always used a very nice term to describe what motherhood is, which is to be a PhD in Human Development.

In addition, many mothers, if not most nowadays, are included in the labor market, having to do a real multiplication of their time. We see so many mothers who don’t even have time for themselves and I’m not here to romanticize this, but just the opposite, as a daughter, I want to remind other children the importance of valuing their mothers not only on a business day, but all year round and this includes being obedient, the greatest proof of love.

The virtuous woman

10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. 18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. 19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. 20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. 22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. 25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. 31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Proverbs 31:10-31

The text from Proverbs, presents many characteristics not only of a mother, but of a virtuous woman, do you know anyone with these characteristics? I have the honor of knowing some women like that, among them are my mother, grandmothers, friends, co-workers and many others. I see in them the true meaning of what it is to be an empowered woman, a term so often used nowadays, because these are women full of faith, wisdom and who know their value as daughters of God.

But going back to mothers, many scholars say that during early childhood, that is, up to six years old, the child’s character is already 75% shaped. Therefore, their way of loving, acting, scolding and speaking have a great interference in their children and a wise mother raises wise children who are a source of pride to her and not of shame. As it is written in Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Of course each person has a personality, sometimes two children raised by the same mother can be completely different, but certainly those who are instructed in the right way will be good people. It is important to point out that children are a reflection of their parents, there is no point in wanting them to have a certain behavior if you have another. Mothers and fathers are the main example for a child.

Conclusion

Mother’s Day is a day to honor all those who play this very important role, whether they are biological mothers, adoptive mothers, grandmothers, or aunts. Congratulations to all of you who teach and dedicate so much. May God bless each one of you, giving you wisdom, discernment, and a lot of patience! Know that your work is valued and you are very much loved by the Lord.

Now a message to the children: do you honor your mother? Remember that obedience is one of the greatest gifts, that your care for her is not only for this Sunday, but for the whole year. To conclude I leave here the passage from Ephesians 6:1-4: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother’-this is the first commandment with promise-‘so that everything may go well for you and that you may have long life on earth. Parents, do not anger your children; but bring them up according to the instruction and counsel of the Lord.”

God bless you!

God doesn’t speak to me

God doesn’t speak to me

…Really? Many people carry in their hearts the feeling that God is distant or silent. They pray, wait for answers, try to move forward, but seem to hear nothing coming from heaven. Yet, perhaps the problem isn’t the absence of God’s voice, but the excess of noise within us. We live at a fast pace, surrounded by distractions, worries, and a routine that never slows down. And, in the midst of this confusion, we still say that God is too quiet. The truth is that God continues to speak. He continues to guide, teach, and call His children closer. But often, we are too busy to perceive His voice. Inner noise “After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” 1 Kings 19:12 We live in a generation that hardly ever stops. We wake up thinking about commitments, we go to sleep worried about tomorrow, and we spend the whole day consuming information. The mind never rests. The heart is never silent. Between work, studies, bills, social media, projects, and anxiety, we fill our souls with noise. Then, we look to the sky and ask, “Why doesn’t […]

Prayer: I Surrender

Prayer: I Surrender

Father, today I stand before You acknowledging that You are the God of new beginnings. Even when everything seems lost, when cycles end and paths break apart, You remain the One who restores, who lifts up, and who writes new stories. I thank You because Your mercy is never exhausted, and Your love is greater than any mistake, pain, or past that I carry. Many times I feel stuck to what has already passed — wrong decisions, missed opportunities, difficult seasons. But today I choose to trust that You do not define me by my past, but rather by Your purpose. Teach me to look ahead, to believe that new beginnings are possible in You. I want to walk in faith, even when I cannot yet see everything clearly. I ask You to strengthen me to live in this new season. May I not only desire to start over, but have the courage to take different steps. As Your Word says, I want to be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, knowing that I do not depend on my own strength, but on what You release over me every day. Transform my mind and my heart. Remove […]

Prayer: Reveal Yourself

Prayer: Reveal Yourself

Father, I know that You are not guided by appearances, but that You search deeply into my heart, my intentions, and my motivations. I often worry about the outward, about what others think, but today I ask You: purify my inner self, because I know that it is there that You dwell and it is from there that You cause Your grace — true life — to flow. You are sovereign over all things. Just as Your power was revealed in Egypt, confronting everything that rose up as a god, I know that nothing can compare to You. Tear down within me every hidden “idol,” everything that takes Your place in my heart, and teach me to live surrendered to You alone, understanding that Your power and Your truth are above all things. Jesus, I thank You because, in the midst of judgment, You always offer redemption. Just as the blood of the lamb brought deliverance, I acknowledge that it is Your sacrifice that saves me, cleanses me, and gives me new life. I do not want to trust in myself, nor in my own works, but in the grace that comes from You, in the oil poured out by […]
