The meaning of the gifts

The meaning of the gifts

When Jesus was born, the story tells that the wise men went to the baby and presented him with some objects. Have you ever wondered about the meanings of each gift given by them? “On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11 The gold This gift represented and reaffirmed the royalty of Jesus. “The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty. The Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength. Indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago. You are from all eternity”. Psalms 93:1,2 The boy was born in a manger, surrounded by animals and hay. But he was still the Son of the King of Kings. Jesus was King right there in Mary’s lap and King in every heart that recognized Him as Lord. He just wasn’t a king who would reign in a palace. As stated in Philippians 2:6, He was God Himself in human form but, even though He was the greatest in the world, He did not attach to titles, but came to earth to fulfill His purpose […]

How to be remembered forever?

How to be remembered forever?

Today I would like to talk to you about Generosity and how it is capable of producing an eternal memory. After all, no one would like to simply be forgotten. I think we all want to do something relevant that people will remember us positively and in a way that glorifies God. I never met my great-grandfather, but everyone who talks about him gets emotional and remembers him as a good and generous man. I don’t know about you, but whenever I received something generously, it was engraved in my heart with great affection and gratitude. A generous gesture marks people, generates memory. Even if there is a remarkable way for us to express God’s character and love, it is through generosity. Your deeds will be remembered forever “Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice. Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever.” – Psalm 112:5-6 Psalm 112 describes the conduct of a God-fearing person. This biblical chapter reveals that the fear of the Lord leads to a generous life. The person who fears is upright, honors the principles of the Kingdom of Heaven, and blesses his […]

[Series: Miracles of Jesus] God multiplies what we give

Today, in our last text of the series “Miracles of Jesus”, I want to talk about the multiplication of loaves and fish. The passage in Mark 8 begins with Jesus speaking to the disciples about the great crowd that had not eaten for 3 days, asking them to have mercy on those hungry people. The logic of the miracle What is striking about this story is that it was described that there were about 4,000 men, without mentioning women or children. Considering one woman and one child for each man present, we can estimate about 12 thousand people present. When Jesus asks the disciples to feed that multitude, they ask in verse 4 where, in that desert place, they could get enough bread to feed so many people, and then Christ responds with a new question: “How many loaves do you have?” They answered, “Seven” and still find some small fish. Jesus took that little food the disciples had, gave thanks and asked them to start distributing it among the people. Would it make sense to start sharing just 7 loaves and a few small fish to feed a crowd? The confronting gospel Jesus has the power of heaven, He […]

[Series: Miracles of Jesus] Restoring the walk

Today I brought you a thought about the miracle of healing the paralytic for our series of miracles of Jesus. We can often see this story focusing on one person and how Jesus restored his ability to walk, but I want to encourage you to look beyond that. The story The Word says in the book of John, chapter 5, that there was a tank in Jerusalem. In a few moments an angel came down, stirred the waters and the first one who entered the tank was healed. One man in the crowd was paralytic. When Jesus saw him, He asked if he would like to be healed, but because of his difficulty in moving, he never arrived in time to be the first to enter the tank when the water moved, so he thought he would not be able to receive the cure. Christ then said in verse 8, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk“. And in that moment the man was healed. The Generosity of Christ What draws attention in the text above is that even though in some parts of the Bible we read that to be healed we need to have faith in God. […]

How to participate in a miracle?

How to participate in a miracle?

All supernatural, miracle, provision and wealth comes from God. That is, everything impossible comes from the Lord, but He wants to use us in what is possible for us to do. And having a generous position in relation to our wealth, possessions and resources is one of the ways we participate in the miracle of provision that God wants to perform in the people around us. Wealth comes from God First I would like to share that all wealth is a gift from God. The danger lies in how our hearts are positioned towards it. The real problem is in us putting it in the place of God, people or purposes. But prosperity is a sign of God’s blessing on us. Abraham, for example, was a God-fearing man who was always very prosperous on earth. In Ecclesiastes 5:19 it is written that “Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.” This verse reveals to us that we have received from the Lord wealth and also health to enjoy it. And that the fact that we can enjoy a job and what we […]

Share the blessings that are upon you

Share the blessings that are upon you

Surely you occupy a place of blessing in something. Maybe in your relationships, maybe in knowledge, maybe financially, in talents. Or in various things. Know that all of this is grace that was bestowed upon you. And these blessings that are upon you were poured out in abundance for you to share. Every grace and gift begins in JESUS As it is written in Ephesians 4:7: But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. Every grace and gift began with the generosity of Christ. He shared with us the authority of His name (John 14:13). He made us co-heirs with Him (Rom. 8:17), sharing His place as a Son (It was through Him that we became children). In Him we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms (Eph. 1:3). From Jesus we have received so much and that cannot stop with us! When the Bible talks about blessings, the example of agriculture is used several times. When we take the result of a harvest, we can simply keep stocking and retaining for ourselves or we can reinvest the seeds in the soil for multiplication. When we multiply the blessings that are upon us by […]

Prayer: For a Generous Heart!

Prayer: For a Generous Heart!

Generosity is a powerful tool of connection as we wrote these days around here, which is essential for all areas of our lives, whether in the church, at work, or in our homes. It has the power to transform environments, people’s day. Our God is generous with us many times, although we don’t always realize it, He is so generous that He gave us His only son so that we could have eternal and abundant life. And thinking about this I want to pray with you that we can be more and more generous, have a generous heart. I leave here a passage especially for you today: As a result of your service, (1) they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers (2) will show that you are obedient to the good news of Christ. And (3) they will pray for you with deep affection, because of the overflowing grace God has bestowed on you. 2 Corinthians 9:13-14 Remembering that you don’t have to repeat the prayer exactly as I am going to leave it here, because each one of us has a specific way of communicating with the Lord. But if you […]

Prayer: Gathering treasures in heaven!

Prayer: Gathering treasures in heaven!

The other day we wrote here about store up treasures in heaven, we saw that despite the importance of our work and projects, we must also keep in mind where our real good is, that is, in our eternal home. This reminds us that the riches of this world are temporary and as much as we should plan and save, we cannot see our neighbor in need and fail to act. More than having a fat reserve, diversified investments that provide us with a secure future here on earth, when we are generous and invest in people, in the church, in the Kingdom of God, we are accumulating a secure treasure in heaven. So today I want to pray with you to rebuke greed, remembering that your trust is not in earthly possessions, but in God, even if overnight everything is lost, he will still take care of you, because you are His child. I leave here a passage especially for you today: Sell your possessions and give to the needy. By this you will store up treasures in heaven, and the purses in heaven will not wear out or crumble. Your treasure will be secure; no thief will steal […]

Generosity beyond festivities!

Generosity beyond festivities!

The world seems more colorful between Christmas and the New Year, people tend to be more kind and generous. With this, they leave aside little silly or intrigues because after all, it’s time to party, to rejoice and be united. But it shouldn’t be like this only at this time of year, should it? Today, together with you, I want to reflect about this great generosity that ravishes people at this time and why it doesn’t last the whole year. The birth of hope itself Well, I believe that the first point to think about is that Christmas is considered a time of hope, since the birth of hope itself is celebrated, which explains the behavior of many. After all, a birth is something beautiful and that brings joy, of humanity before and after Christ. Therefore, as much as there are differences of thought regarding the true day when Jesus came into the world, even though we commemorate such an event regardless of the date, it reminds us of our Father’s faithfulness and that in Him our hopes are renewed every day. And from this I think: If our hope is in a faithful God who sent his son to […]
