Expectation is the condition of those who expect something to happen at a given time and it is common for many to put their desires in situations or people. However, such an attitude may not be healthy since the other does not have the power to transform a situation in the way we imagine, which can generate frustration and insecurity.
At some point in life, we have all been frustrated in our relationships, whether with family, spouse, friends or even leaders and authorities on the Christian walk. In general, this is because we feel that the other is not meeting our expectations, which shows how important it is to be anchored in the One who has the power to do more than we imagine, the One whose plans are better than ours: God !
Expectation is a good thing as long as it is in God
That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
2 Timothy 1:12
The Bible teaches us to expect, as written in the above verse, but it must be in God, the One who is able to do infinitely more and also needs to go according to His teachings.
When we take our desires to God, trusting that He has the best for each of us, we receive from the grace of the Father, the peace that surpasses all understanding and is the result of trust in the Highest.
Like Jesus, we must keep our expectations in God so that His will is fulfilled in our lives, let us not be frustrated and our purposes are aligned with His. We look forward to those to whom we relate, so it is of great importance that we are close to the Lord, praying and watching to keep our hearts in everything that comes from Him.
Expectation and ministry
His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!
Matthew 25.23
When we serve God in our church, our work will not always be recognized and that is why we must focus on what comes from above. Serving the Kingdom of God is an offering of gratitude for the high price of our salvation, and for this reason, the Lord will recognize our work.
Commit yourself to your mission and purpose, having the desire to please your Father, as He knows your heart and has great things prepared for your life. How close we are to God’s will for our lives reflects how satisfied we will be.
In conclusion …
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
Wait on God and keep your expectations in Him, for He knows the plans He has for you. In Matthew 6, it is written that our heavenly father takes care of even the birds and lilies of the field, so it would be no different with you who are a beloved son. Remember, His dreams are bigger than ours.
God bless you!
