Prayer for our Families!
Today is the national family day here in Brazil and thinking about that today we will pray for our homes, for our families. As I wrote in the last text, family is a precious gift given by God to us and the greatest gift that we can give to our family is our time. We are in a time of festivities where many worries about giving expensive gifts, but think: our savior, Jesus, was the one who gave the most gifts and do you know what? He didn’t give gold or silver, but he served, giving all the attention to those who crossed his path and even giving His life for us.
So, just like our Lord, may we know how to value the time with our family! I leave here two passages especially for you today:
The crown of old men is their children’s children; and the glory of children is their fathers. – Proverbs 17:6
Then his brothers and his mother came and, standing outside, sent for him. And the multitude was sitting about him, and they said to him: Behold, thy mother and thy brethren seek thee, and are without. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother and my brethren? And when he had looked round about on them that sat about him, he said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whoever does the will of God is my brother, and sister, and mother. – Mark 3:31-35
Remember that you don’t have to repeat the prayer exactly as I am going to leave it here, because each one of us has a specific way of communicating with the Lord. But if you want to follow me, it will be a pleasure, feel free to speak it in your own way.
Prayer
Beloved God, I thank you for this day, for your infinite love and for the family you have given me. I thank you for making me also your family and for my spiritual family. My Lord, I ask that your grace come upon my home and each one who is blood of my blood. I ask forgiveness for often not making as much of my time available for my family as I can. I love you and I love everyone I live with. I want to demonstrate such love in the best way. So help me, Lord.
May there be unity, love, peace and joy in my home. I pray that my home as a whole will draw closer to You every day. I ask for your blessing on the lives of my children, husband/wife, parents, grandparents, uncles, cousins. May nothing come to lack in my home, whether material, spiritual, or physical. May my home be a place of peace, a place where people who arrive will be able to feel Your love and Your presence. May there be reconciliation where there is strife, there may be forgiveness where there is hurt, may there be restoration where love has been lost. Holy Spirit, I invite you to fill my home.
You are perfect, and I want to love my neighbor as You love me, I want to extend the same compassion that You have for me to others. I know that I fail in many attitudes, forgive me. I pray that every day I will be more like Jesus and give the proper attention to everyone as He did.
My God, Yours is the power, the glory, and the honor forever. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray, give thanks and ask that my words may reach the Lord like a sweet perfume!
