Life doesn’t come with a script!

Life doesn’t come with a script!

It’s easy to find someone who wishes they had made better decisions in life, we hear the famous phrase “if I had known this was going to happen I wouldn’t have done that”, however, we don’t know our future, nor will we ever know. After all, the only one who knows about your past, present and future is God. The screenwriter of our lives who gives us freedom to make decisions and knows very well what each decision will lead to.

But do you need to know what will happen to make better decisions? I actually think it is important that we do not know the future. Because then we can truly deliver it to the Lord. When we trust and have faith in God, we believe that His plans are bigger and better than ours.

We may not have a script, but we have the best instruction manual in the world, the word of God! It is living, unique and effective. Through it we are counseled and taught in the way of the Lord, we have there precious teachings for our life. It is through its reading that we find answers, confirmations and comfort. So what good would it do to know what is going to happen if we have no direction to deal with the situation.

Maybe knowing what is going to happen just causes anxiety in us by waiting for something to happen. Now entering a polemic but necessary subject: there are believers who believe in horoscopes. Such a thing is a bit contradictory, don’t you think? First, because only God knows your future (Proverbs 27:1). And secondly, astrology is a kind of divination, which our Father condemns (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).

In Isaiah 47:14, it is written that those who consult the stars and make predictions month by month will not be saved because they trust in a false god. We, renewed in Christ, don’t need this, because we already have the Holy Spirit guiding us and God is already taking care of our future. Unfortunately, as for divination, we have to be careful with this in our churches too, because we know that there are false prophets in the world.

God can give visions to people to give direction to a family or to a church, but surely you have seen people who ask for prayer to a prophet hoping to know if their finances will improve, or how the person they will marry is physically and so on. This is not at all certain, God will reveal what he wants to you.

How do you know when a prophecy is from God? Well, by asking, by talking to him. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:20,21: “Do not treat prophecies with contempt, but test all things and hold fast what is good. Another word about this is found in 1 Corinthians 14:3: “But whoever prophesies does so for the edification, encouragement and comfort of men. If you have received a word and it has not brought you any of these things, it is not from God.

Conclusion

To conclude, we can say that it is no use knowing about tomorrow if we have no direction, if it is not for edification. God has a right time for everything and everything will happen in His time, not yours. You can’t change the past, but you can do differently from now on. You can’t know the consequences, but you can do your best in every situation and seek wisdom in God’s scriptures.

Act with integrity and with a conduct of those who have been renewed in Christ. Seek teaching and do what is right in God’s eyes and he will take care of your future. Passion to you this day:

Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33
