Prayer: Running from religious fear

Prayer

Father, I know that many times my mind is filled with fear, guilt, and thoughts that steal the peace of my faith. I know that You do not want me to live imprisoned by spiritual anxiety, constantly trying to earn a love that was already given to me on the cross. Teach me to rest in You and to remember that Your love is not sustained by my performance, but by Your infinite grace.

When intrusive thoughts come, when the fear of condemnation tries to dominate my heart, and when I feel spiritually overwhelmed, help me remember Your truth. Your Word says that I was not given a spirit of fear, but of strength, love, and balance. May I learn to distinguish the voice of destructive guilt from the voice of Your Spirit, who corrects with love and leads to life.

Jesus, heal in me every distorted image of who You are. Many times I act as if I need to live in constant despair to be accepted by You, forgetting that the Lord calls me near with mercy and rest. Teach me to see the Father as He truly is: loving, patient, kind, and full of compassion. May I not live trying to earn Your love, but responding with gratitude to the love I have already received.

I also ask You for wisdom and courage to seek help when necessary. May I not be ashamed to care for my mind and my emotions. Thank You because the Lord raises up qualified people to help in the process of healing and restoration. May I understand that seeking treatment does not diminish my faith, but is part of caring for the life You have given me.

Today I declare that I will not live enslaved by religious fear, but I will live through the freedom of Your love. May my spiritual life be marked by peace, trust, and a true relationship with You. Shape my heart with grace, truth, and balance, so that I seek You not out of terror or guilt, but out of love, admiration, and a sincere desire to be close to You, being grateful with every breath.
