There are battles necessary for our growth, where God strengthens us and reveals Himself to us.
However, we cannot forget that actions generate reactions and consequences, and depending on the step we take, the result may be an unnecessary battle that we ourselves create.
Guided fights
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”
2 Corinthians 10:3-4
Daniel was placed in the den with lions, and David was sent to fight Goliath. Similarly, we are also called to battles, urged to be strong and courageous, receiving direction and power from Him.
These confrontations elevate us to new levels, drawing us nearer to Him and His promises. They are moments of strength and shaping, fostering our growth. However, at times, we engage in unnecessary battles not initiated by Him.
The Bible instructs us to involve the Lord in our decisions from the very first step. Yet, in our daily hustle and bustle, we often decide for ourselves. This leads us into places, relationships, and circumstances not aligned with God’s plans, thus delaying the fulfillment of His promises.
Misaligned dreams
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”
Provérbios 16:3
Sometimes, we yearn to tread a certain path, only to find God leading us in a different direction. Meanwhile, we witness others traversing the same path and achieving favorable outcomes.
I urge you to recall that the path you aspire to may not be inherently flawed, but it might not align with your unique journey. Often, our decisions are influenced by the anticipated rewards, yet it is paramount to prioritize serving the Kingdom over seeking admiration. Therefore, yield to His guidance.
God has meticulously crafted a distinct plan for each individual, replete with precise instructions far superior to our own imaginings. What may be a fitting course for one person may not yield the same results for you. When God steers you in a particular direction, therein lies His promise—specific and tailored to you.
The destination toward which God is leading you will bestow blessings upon you beyond your wildest imagination or planning. Hence, it is imperative that you heed His call and surrender to His guidance.
Be targeted
“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
Efésios 4:14-15
Avoid entangling yourself in unnecessary conflicts that impede progress, driven by desires rooted in ego. God has far greater plans and determines the opportune moment for their fruition.
In the interim, He is shaping and refining your heart. Remember, our choices wield consequences, capable of shaping not just a single day, but an entire lifetime.
Opting for actions and conduct contrary to biblical principles or the paths the Lord directs us to undertake can thrust us into needless strife and adversity. Hence, seek daily for discernment and wisdom to discern which battles warrant our engagement and which we should sidestep.
Embrace the path of righteousness, justice, and sagacity, steering clear of routes leading to destruction and discord. By doing so, we can revel in the tranquility and concord derived from obedience to God.
