Too busy for God
We live in a world that glorifies and encourages performance, control, and busyness.
In the midst of rush and anxiety, we often forget something essential: God moves when we rest in Him. The areas where we are overly anxious become closed zones for the Lord’s move, because we insist on solving everything with our own strength. Rest is not the same as inactivity, but rather trust.
Where God Works
“Do not be anxious about anything…”
I like to talk about this here, to reach more and more people. This is a very present topic in our lives and it’s extremely important to be discussed.
Anxiety reflects our desire to control what is beyond our reach. When we are restless, worried, and impatient, we close our ears to God’s voice and block our hearts from His work. Faith trusts in the Lord’s timing, while the anxious mind wants to anticipate the future and, as a result, skip important steps.
When we understand that anxiety doesn’t solve anything, but rather gets in the way, we take the first step toward spiritual rest. God doesn’t move in hearts that do not listen to Him, and anxiety often speaks so loudly that it distracts us from His direction. We are always too busy solving things, instead of listening to what God has to say.
We need to surrender our anxious areas to the Lord and admit that we can’t do it without Him. This surrender, though difficult, is the starting point for the miracle. Only when we release control does God take the lead and work in the silence.
An Environment for the Miracle
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14
Rest is not abandonment—it’s trust. When the people of Israel panicked before the sea and began to complain, Moses told them to be still because God was already preparing the way. The sea only parted when they obeyed and trusted. Sometimes our greatest battle is to be still and trust that He is working.
Jesus also calls us to rest (Matthew 11:28). God is not impressed by our productivity but moves in our surrender—where we give Him space to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.
Rest is faith in action—it is working without trying to rush things, seeking to hear God’s voice before anything else. While we wait, He prepares. It’s not just physical or psychological relaxation, but a spiritual rest that positions us to experience miracles without overwhelming, frustrating, or blaming ourselves all the time.
The Soil Where God Operates
“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.”
Psalm 125:1
Trust is the fertile soil where the Lord plants His promises. When we surrender to God’s sovereignty, we recognize that only He has the power to transform situations—and so we reap His plans.
Abraham had to trust as he walked up the mountain with Isaac (Genesis 22). He didn’t know what would happen, but he knew whom he believed in—He who is greater than all things. Instead of anxiety, he chose faith. Surely, he felt pain in his heart with every step up the mountain, but he continued in peace, certain that God was taking care of everything.
In that place of surrender, God provided. The greatest demonstrations of divine power happened in moments when men and women decided to rest and trust, even amid many emotions.
If today some area of your life is surrounded by fear, control, and anxiety, perhaps that is exactly where God is waiting for you to rest. When we are still, He rises. When we let go and pour out, He takes it for Himself. May you find rest in God and allow His work to exceed everything you could ever do on your own.
