What does it mean to be the ‘salt of the earth’?

Have you ever eaten a food without salt? If the answer is yes, you know how bland and totally different flavor it is without it. And that’s what I want to talk to you about today: Being the salt of the earth

First, the salt in the dish

In Matthew 5:13 we see the phrase “You are the salt of the earth…”.

This condiment has the power to change the entire flavor of the food and enhance the qualities of the food. In this way, you were called to change the flavor of things.

You can transform people’s lives, the world around you, highlight for each one how the Father’s love is present around us.

For a long time I focused on this verse thinking it was too difficult. It felt like a lot of responsibility and something far away to be the salt for the whole earth. That’s because I forgot that the salt of the earth starts out being the salt of the dish.

With every pinch

I don’t need to be a person with all the talents and wisdom in the world to be able to salt something. I don’t need to charge myself to do something big, because just a pinch of salt changes everything. What you’re doing may seem small, but that pinch is changing the whole flavor and bringing transformation to those around you.

Start being the salt on the dish, salt the little, change the taste of the simple, and more and more God will empower you and give you more knowledge so that more people and places are impacted by your life.

To conclude…

Being that salt for everything around you starts with the ability to be salt for yourself.

We can only project to the world what we have introjected in ourselves, that is, we need to feed ourselves first of something in order to feed other people. So seek, be filled with the good word, with His love, pray for the light of the Lord in your heart. From your overflowing spirit, you will be able to share what you have lived in the Lord with other people.

Has your mind paralyzed you?

These days I was looking at some posts on social media and came across the text of Acts 3. This passage tells the story of a miracle performed in the life of a lame man. One day Peter and John were on their way to the temple and came to them bringing a man with a disability in his legs, which made it impossible for him to move. A detail in the text caught my attention, I looked for some studies and words about it and I need to share it with you. Healing cause and consequence “Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and […]

Don’t despise your “nothing”

I feel that many times we end up neglecting the text of Genesis 1. Maybe because we see this text only as a “Check-list” of what has been done. I heard a word these days that marked me a lot and I want to invite you to see more deeply the first verses of the bible just as my eyes were opened too. Something is created for something to be formed Verse 1 of chapter 1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth“ A little later, in verse 7 of verse 2, we see the following passage: “Then the Lord God formed a man“. Did you notice any difference between the two sections? In the first, the term “Created“ is used and then the term “Formed“. And it’s not by chance. You cannot create anything from what already exists. When something already exists, we just give that matter a different form. A chair, for example, is not created, it is formed through wood, which already exists. The earth was created, because there was no previous matter for it to form. There was no governorship before Joseph, only Pharaoh existed. God prepared a place for Joseph, a created place where nothing existed. There’s […]

A study about John Baptist

There is no denying the importance of this biblical character, being the cousin of Jesus, John Baptist was the son of Zacarias and Isabel, the result of a miraculous conception, since his mother was old and sterile (Luke 1: 57-66). John Baptist knew from an early age what his purpose here on earth was: to announce the coming of Jesus Christ – the Savior – and he remained faithful to his call. The prophet Isaiah had already prophesied about him. And this is confirmed in the text of Matthew: In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’” Matthew 3:1-2 The beginning of his ministry When the Spirit of God directed him to the desert to begin his preaching ministry, he did not hesitate to obey (Luke 1:80; Mark 1: 2-6), he lived in the desert until he began his ministry, he did not drink alcohol, he used camel hair and ate grasshoppers and honey.
