28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
How this passage can impact us, isn’t it? These days I was very busy, full of commitments and issues to resolve, but then in a conversation with a dear friend, she reminded me of this passage so precious and necessary to us.
I don’t know about you, but I particularly have a hard time saying no to commitments or requests made to me. I get that feeling that if I don’t help I’ll be boring or that I might disappoint others.
Surely this is not good, because we are not able to do everything at the same time, we are still only one person, aren’t we? Well, but as I read this passage I thought about what was not being light, as we read in Matthew 11, our Lord did not say that we would not have a “burden”, but that his burden is light.
That is, his purposes for us are light, we will face challenges and difficulties, for in them we are forged and God’s name is glorified, but with Christ we will have the necessary peace and strength to overcome them.
How are you today?
Are you feeling restless or overwhelmed? Then maybe it is time to re-evaluate your schedule, tasks, and everything you are currently doing. Identify what comes from God and what doesn’t. Learning to say no is also important so that we don’t become overwhelmed.
Conclusion
12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Jeremiah 29:12
Today take some time to pray to the Lord for direction in what you no longer know how to handle, ask him to show you where you should be and what commitments you should make. God wants to have a relationship with us, to talk to us, he wants to hear you. Take your dreams, plans and anxieties to him and you will find an answer.
God bless you!
