Do we really trust God? Have we put our whole life in His hands? Or have we been trying to take control of things and wanting to do it our way?
I confess that this has been a great difficulty of mine. For this very reason, I would like to talk to you about it!
Come with me!
Learning to rest in my life
As I said before, I have had great difficulty resting in God and in His plans for me. Not only I have it, but most part of my life I suffered with this. It is extremely difficult for me and shows that my faith is small and that I do not trust God. It is as if I feared more to displease myself than to displease God.
But I don’t have to take care of everything. I don’t have to take the reins of my life and do things my way. I am a child of God and it is He who cares for me and my heart.
The Lord has shown me this fault of mine and has guided me to improve. Thanks to the care him for me, my leader talked to me about it and the Lord reminded me of of a Brazilian old song that says,
“It’s mine, only mine all the workNão Tenhas Sobre Ti (Name of the song in Portuguese)
and your job is to rest on me”
Though something difficult, I have understood that rest, trust and delight in the Lord is the most important. He’s done everything for me, I just need to trust.
What does the Bible say?
“But as for me, I am poor and needy;Psalms 40:17
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
you are my God, do not delay.”
This is exactly what I need to understand: by my strength, I may be able to take care of something, but it would never be perfect in the way that God does. I need to learn to let the Lord take care of me and not worry about wanting to take care of everything.
Okay, but how do you do that?
“Commit your way to the Lord;Psalms 37: 5
trust in him and he will do this:”
My duty is to hand everything over to Him, so that my heart may be centered on the will of God. In this way, I cannot be shaken, because my expectations and hopes are in the Lord, and He does not fail.
If, like me, you find it difficult to delight in God and trust in His plans, I recommend that we start giving up not only our wills, but our lives.
Grace and peace.
