Difficult times do not mean little faith. Walking with God does not make us immune to difficulties and pain.
But God taught us in the Bible the difference it makes to be with Him, walking in His footsteps.
Faith in the lion’s den
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.”
Matthew 7:24-26
The storm comes for everyone, both for those who built their house on the sand and for those who built their house on the rock. Difficulties will always exist; the difference is in the foundation, where we are built.
Our trust cannot be in something volatile; we need to establish it in God.
Just as in the story of Daniel, when he was thrown into a pit full of hungry lions, he stood firm, not in his own strength and knowledge, but in God and His mighty presence. His faith was greater, even though he was thrown to the lions.
If God’s plans are always greater than mine, and I know that He is with me in every situation, there is no reason for me to despair. I need to understand that bad things don’t happen or stop happening based on the size of my faith.
Complete faith
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
Romans 5:3-5
How many men of faith in the Bible have gone through tribulations. Leaders who were a reference in Christianity.
Faith is the answer to all things, but not always the cause. Some situations become possible when we have faith, as we give the Spirit freedom to act in our lives and receive Him with confidence.
But some things are out of our control, and in those moments, faith becomes the answer.
It doesn’t matter how you measure your faith, whether you consider it small or big, what matters is how much you pour that faith at the feet of God. He doesn’t want a large amount, He wants everything you have.
Just like the story of the widow and her two coins, it wasn’t much in our view, but it was all she had. Her faith was great to God, even if small in our human measure.
Unconditional faith
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
Romans 10:17
Some moments of difficulty and pain exist as a consequence of our mistakes, but not everything is in our control.
All you can do is trust in God, pour everything at His feet, and seek in God and His word the steps you should take from that moment on. Align your paths with those of the Father, knowing that even so, you will pass through deserts. The difference is that, with God, you learn in the desert and receive strength and provision from Him to continue the path.
Difficult paths with God guide you to His purpose in your life.
Have faith. He will do infinitely more than anything we can deliver and dream.
How to have faith? If faith comes through the word of God, listen to it and seek it above all else!
