I’ve heard some people say the phrase: “God isn’t taking too long, He’s doing his best“.
Yes, He is doing the best. But He doesn’t need time to do something better, in that situation you need that time…
Omnipresent or busy?
“The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.“
Proverbs 21:31
God isn’t like a super busy person who needs a longer deadline to do something better. As if He were telling you: “Wait just a little bit more, I just need to do this detail here“.
It’s not time that changes what He gives you, it’s you who needs to change so that what He’s doing comes to you at the right time.
God can give you the promise He made you in a snap of a finger, because He has the power to make the perfect in milliseconds. But you would not be ready to receive.
The time it takes for you to reach that promise has to do with how much He needs to prepare you so you don’t waste it.
Ripe to the Whole
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot”
Ecclesiastes 3:1,2
Putting a child into college early would shorten the path a lot, wouldn’t it? She doesn’t have so many responsibilities and has little time in school, she could use this free time to start learning a profession and be a fulfilled person sooner.
But she doesn’t have the maturity to receive that. She needs to learn to walk and then run and then reach the end of the race. She doesn’t even know how to read yet, how could she receive this greater opportunity? How would you value it?
Skipping steps and processes does not make us take advantage of the opportunities that would come in the future. That way we receive everything in half, immaturely. We have not taken advantage of the entirety of God’s promise, we would not be mature enough to take advantage of every detail.
Walk to the treasure
What you are so looking forward to is not taking this time out of divine need, but out of your earthly need.
“Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I will do this to you, Israel, prepare to meet your God.”
Amos 4:12
Prepare yourself for the things you pray for. In the waiting time, don’t stand still, ask God what you need to do to prepare and receive it in the best way. Don’t ask this question expecting Him to rush things just because you want everything yesterday.
The process is often painful and tiring, but you need to move to strengthen yourself, not to race against time.
I see it all as a treasure hunt. God has already put the greatest promise for your life (already complete and perfect) in a drawer, and locked that drawer. Throughout his life there are several papers indicating the next step. The Father will guide you to each new path and indicate what you need to do to get there.
If you don’t listen openly to what He has to say, you will take the wrong path and that will postpone your arrival until the next “clue”. He has already done it, everything has already been prepared. Now He is directing you and showing you what needs to come from you so that you can find the key to that drawer and reach your promise.
The extraordinary He does, the ordinary needs to come from you. And it is through Him that you learn how to follow that path.
