Always before going to sleep I pray that, in addition to protection and rest during the night, the Lord visits me in my dreams to speak to me.
Sometimes He comes, and I know when it’s Him because I remember every detail of some specific parts, and those parts don’t leave my mind.
In 2022 I had a special dream where a person brought me a phrase and, since then, I have dreamed more times with the same phrase brought in different ways in each dream. I didn’t understand it very well, but now it’s clear to me and I want to share it.
Seeking answers in Him
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”
1 Corinthians 13:12
In dreams, this phrase was always delivered through people or appeared printed in places. When I understood it, it never appeared to me again.
The sentence in Portuguese said something like: “We must not eat salt until it is on our feet and coating our steps.”
To me it seemed like an enigma and, whenever I tried to fit it into situations in my life in order to understand it, I was back to square one of “what does it mean to me anyway?”
Today, seeking answers from Him, in the right way and from the right source, I understood that He was talking about my habit of trying to eat food before it was ready.
I have always been very anxious, wanting to control everything in my life. And in the end I always went back to the beginning, needing to depend on Him because I messed up everything trying to fix on my own what I shouldn’t have started without Him.
Season before…
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
We cannot want to eat meat without preparing it first. Cleaning it, seasoning it, without it having been cooked. When we skip steps, we don’t experience the same pleasure as if we had waited for the right time.
When something is moving forward in my life, I automatically try to skip to the part where everything has already been resolved, to the banquet part. But when that happens, I end up eating it raw.
I need to prepare myself first and wait for things around me to be prepared. I need to put on my shoes, learn to walk in them, so that I can then enjoy the walk in the best possible way and be able to run safely.
You have to wait for the salt to do its work and, with just the food prepared, you can sit down and enjoy the feast.
…Enjoy later
“For the revelation awaits an appointed time. It speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it. It will certainly come and will not delay.”
Habakkuk 2:3
We need to rest in the truth that we will never be late for what is already ours.
If God promised us, if He is doing it, we will never be late for what is already in our name. But, it’s important to remember that we can be late if we try to do it with our hands.
Many times we think we are super prepared to experience something and we try to force it to happen soon, but it’s not the time, it doesn’t need to nor should be now. It has to be in His time if we want it to really work and last forever.
If we try to impose our time, we eat raw or very burnt food, because we don’t know when we are really prepared to experience it. But if we are in His time and in His project, we will never be late or early.
The Lord knows exactly in what areas we need to be shaped in and how we should be prepared to receive something. Seek the answers in Him, know when to salt and when to eat, when to put your feet on and when to walk in Him.
Respect the process and listen to His voice!
