Do not worry!

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6:25-34

In this passage we can see Jesus speaking about life’s concerns. After all, it is very common to worry about things around us. We are human and we need some basic things to survive. This gives us some concern.

An immediate society

We live in an immediate society, where for everything there is a deadline, schedule, tight hours, very short days. People are molded to keep up with the clock. We do not always act with excellence in this arduous task. We started following a difficult habit, based on how much we could finish as quickly as possible.

It is inevitable not to feel the strength draining and the heart full of anxieties and fears. What made our society suffer from stress-related illnesses, inadequate diet and anxiety disorders.

However, the Bible shows us the opposite in the above passage. God knows exactly what we need. He knows all our physical needs, but He wants us to understand that our spiritual needs are much greater. That is why we must first seek the Kingdom of God.

Abandon your worries

Jesus commands that we abandon our worries. He reminds us that the Father is faithful to keep all our guarantees and ensure that God knows what He needs, even before we even think to ask. Therefore, there is no cause for concern. We need to understand that stages are part of life. We cannot reach a place if we do not go through the present moment.

I remember once, a teacher in my Psychology course reported that the present generation has many psychological problems because they cannot live in the present. Some think too much in the past, and they suffer because it is impossible to change what is past. Others think too much about the future and end up suffering from anxiety because it is also impossible to make time pass faster. Reading this passage, I remembered that God already warned us biblically to worry about the now, because He takes care of everything else.

Jesus said in the passage, “Who of you, no matter how concerned, can increase your life time?”

Surrender your life comple

When we accepted Jesus as the only and sufficient Savior, our past was erased and everything became new. By accepting it, we also surrender our lives completely, that is, the now and the future, and that no longer belongs to you, since it was all given to Him. Therefore, to live in the now is to understand that Jesus is in control of all. things and we cannot take what has already been given. Everything is in His hands and safe. There is no better place than this for our living.

In this way, we need to connect with God’s Kingdom and it’s righteousness, and all other things will be added to our lives. There is nothing more important than seeking spiritual needs first. Be sure to value what God teaches you daily, we need daily food and He always gives us what we need to live today. And finally, always remember that the Lord is our shepherd and He will not fail us!
