Armor of Christ

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”

Ephesians 6:10

Before putting on the armor of God, it is essential to understand that our strength does not come from ourselves, but from the Lord. We must be strengthened by God’s power, for only in Him do we have the ability to resist the enemy’s schemes. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces; therefore, we need divine protection.

The armor of God is given to us so we may stand firm against the attacks of the enemy. Without it, we are vulnerable and easily deceived. The devil uses doubts, fears, and temptations to lead us away from the truth, and only spiritual armor can keep us protected. Obedience to the Word and constant prayer are essential to prepare us for this daily battle.

To seek our strength in God means to develop a life of intimacy with Him. Prayer, studying the Bible, and fellowship with other believers help strengthen our faith. Just as a soldier prepares before going into battle, we must always be clothed in God’s presence, trusting that He will give us the victory.

Parts of the Armor

The armor described in Ephesians 6:14–17 consists of different elements, each with deep meaning. The belt of truth keeps us grounded, reminding us of God’s faithfulness and the importance of living according to His Word. The breastplate of righteousness protects our hearts, assuring us that we are covered by Christ’s righteousness, not our own.

The shoes of the gospel of peace give us stability and readiness to proclaim God’s truth. The shield of faith extinguishes the flaming arrows of the evil one, protecting our hearts and minds from doubt and spiritual attacks. With unshakable faith in God, we can resist the enemy’s lies.

The helmet of salvation guards our thoughts, reminding us of our identity in Christ and the security of eternal life. Finally, the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, is our offensive weapon against evil. Just as Jesus used Scripture to resist the devil in the wilderness, we must know and apply the Word to win spiritual battles.

Remaining Protected

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

Ephesians 6:18

Putting on the armor of God is not a one-time act, but a daily commitment. Constant prayer keeps us connected to the Lord, strengthening us to face challenges and temptations. When we pray at all times, we show our dependence on God and allow Him to guide us.

Moreover, we must live in holiness and vigilance. The armor is effective when our lives align with God’s principles, rejecting everything that distances us from Him. Fellowship with other believers is also essential, as it encourages and strengthens us in faith.

Finally, trusting in God’s sovereignty brings us peace, for we know He fights for us. When we are clothed with spiritual armor, we can face any situation with courage and assurance of victory. God has called us to be spiritual warriors, and with His armor, nothing can defeat us.

The right place

Throughout life, we are constantly called to make choices. Some seem obvious, attractive, and full of opportunities. Others require faith, patience, and trust in God. The problem is that not everything that looks good to our eyes is truly what is best for our future. The Bible shows us this through the story of Abraham and Lot, a narrative that remains extremely relevant for everyone who desires to live according to God’s will. Appearances can be deceiving “Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)” Genesis 13:10 There came a time when Abraham’s and Lot’s flocks had grown so much that the land could no longer support them together. To avoid conflict, Abraham proposed that they separate and gave Lot the opportunity to choose first where he would go. Lot saw a place that, from a human perspective, seemed like the perfect choice. The plain was fertile, abundant, and promising. Everything pointed to prosperity. But Lot evaluated only what he could see. He observed the appearance of the land but ignored […]

Prayer: Running from religious fear

In the previous text, we talked a little about religious OCD and how it takes our focus away from what Christ truly expects from us. Today, I want to invite you to pray with me about this subject, so that we may feel free in the Father’s presence, seeking Him with love, gratitude, and true peace. You do not need to pray exactly as I will write here. Open your heart genuinely to God. But it will be a pleasure to accompany you in this moment of prayer and seeking. Prayer Father, I know that many times my mind is filled with fear, guilt, and thoughts that steal the peace of my faith. I know that You do not want me to live imprisoned by spiritual anxiety, constantly trying to earn a love that was already given to me on the cross. Teach me to rest in You and to remember that Your love is not sustained by my performance, but by Your infinite grace. When intrusive thoughts come, when the fear of condemnation tries to dominate my heart, and when I feel spiritually overwhelmed, help me remember Your truth. Your Word says that I was not given a spirit […]
