Guided by a Promise
New beginnings are, in a way, endings too. Moving forward means leaving old steps behind.
The difficulty in starting over lies both in the uncertainty of the unknown and in the nature of endings.
A step in the dark
“Truly my soul finds rest in God. My salvation comes from him.”
Many times, God calls us to start over, and we take a long time to take action, waiting for Him to tell us what to do after the first step. However, starting over is not necessarily linked to knowing what to do, but rather to continuing to sail even without knowing where the boat is going, resting in the truth that Jesus is in that boat.
Noah didn’t know where the boat was going; nothing he knew before existed at that moment, everything was below his vision, flooded. However, he continued, for that was what the Lord commanded.
You won’t have the answers at all times; The Lord is not a GPS that will constantly be telling you to turn or go straight. But His silence never meant His absence or lack.
He put you on the boat, and He will take that boat to the right place, arriving at the destination at the right time.
Clearing the path
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14
I always liked having control in my hands, not that it was a good thing, as I often found myself heading towards the abyss in different situations. However, the feeling that I could foresee any difficulty and avoid it was great.
The problem is that difficulties are necessary for our path to take some directions that would not be taken if everything went perfectly well.
Due to my difficulty in letting go of the Lord’s hands, in every situation, I find myself needing to surrender everything. At all times, He asks me for this, and I have learned a lot.
He has taught me to obey the steps He has for me, without the need for Him to explain to me what the rest of the path will be like.
Seeing clearly
If you stayed, if you survived and continue to have strength every morning, it is because you have purpose; He has much to do in you and through you. In the moment of silence, that’s when He leads you the most.
He kept you, he will continue to keep you, and the lives of other people will receive this same protection through your life.
Just as the word of God says in Genesis 7:23:
“Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.”
The earth and everything in it expired, but Noah was protected and guided, and through his life, others were also saved. There was a great purpose that Noah was a part of and God was filling him with strength and hope.
Do not stop now! Build the ark, even if it doesn’t look like a storm is coming. Even without knowing how to steer a ship and organize an entire crew. Do not question, listen, obey and then see clearly through your dependence on God.
You are under the same word that brought things into existence that did not exist in the beginning. Pay attention to that voice!
