Don’t just be a worker

This life style comes from understanding that we are servants first and foremost.

Be a servant!

“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

John 12:26

The Word of God encourages us to be servants, not just workers.

We can read in various passages that we should labor in the work, but in this context, this word is connected to “getting our hands dirty,” calling us to action, to GO!

When we embrace the work, our hearts need to be those of servants.

The worker acts thinking about what they will receive. The servant acts knowing that they have already received. The grace of God has already filled us; His mercy reaches us every day! There is no greater reason to be grateful. We should serve because we have been called to it, not work so that we can receive a salary.

Understanding the importance of being servants teaches us the greatness of gratitude.

Have you already received

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.”

Hebrews 12:28

Yes, there are challenging times. Situations that wound us and prompt thoughts of giving up. Yet, they are even more pivotal for us than the good times. It’s through these difficult moments that we learn to appreciate and cherish the peaceful ones.

When everything is too effortless, it becomes challenging to grasp the worth of what has been bestowed upon us.

You have already received from His hands, so you already have reasons to be continually thankful, even when it seems there’s no cause.

God beckons us to give without expecting to receive, for we have access to all we need through Christ. When our hearts grasp that we are already fulfilled in Him, we become humble and generous, for we require nothing beyond His presence.

Heirs of God

“Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor.”

Proverbs 15:33

Gratitude walks hand in hand with humility. The third, yet no less significant, beatitude mentioned in Matthew 5 is humility.

God proclaims that those who possess a humble heart will inherit the earth.

The individuals referred to as “meek” in the Bible are not weak or cowardly; they are those who, amidst adversity, relinquish their own desires, neither succumbing to negative emotions nor allowing their reactions to be dictated by them. This stems from their complete and pure understanding of God’s greatness. Grace is abundantly poured upon these individuals, rendering humility and gratitude natural responses of a heart filled with the Holy Spirit.

“To inherit the earth” does not imply that you will receive a piece of property registered in your name, akin to an inheritance from parents to children. Rather, the term “heir” is applied because any significant blessing from the Father will be designated for you, much like a son who inherits everything his parents possessed. The Lord possesses and continually bestows more blessings each day!

You are a child of God, and the Father desires to lavish the greatest victories upon your life.

Price and value

“Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations.”

Isaiah 42:1

My prayer today is that you grasp the beauty and magnificence inherent in being a servant, even if humility at times may make you feel feeble, or gratitude appears insignificant in certain circumstances.

The commitment and devotion that come with the role of a servant grant us an even deeper identity in Him.

We are here to serve the Kingdom, the Father, and our brothers in Christ around us, as instructed by the Bible in numerous passages.

God is pouring abundantly into you; do not hoard it for yourself. Give and share with love and humility, embodying the role of a grateful servant at all times, for you have already received something of immeasurable value for which a high price was paid on the cross.
