In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Psalms 4:8
Tick-tock, tick-tock, so the clock beats, one more hour passes and no sleep comes, we start to wonder why we are in such a situation, but not always accept the real reason, creating even unfounded reasons in our imagination.
These days I found myself this way, almost time to wake up and sleep “didn’t come”, or rather, I was too restless to sleep, so I thought of a thousand things, I took some tea, tried to change position in bed, but nothing seemed to help. Until at a certain moment I realized that I was thinking for hours about the same subject and the same person, and that was when I realized the origin of such restlessness.
In fact, my insomnia had a name and a reason, even though I was insisting that it was just lack of sleep. I was so stuck on that thought that I started to feel distressed and then I realized that the enemy was trying to attack my mind, because that way I would not have the disposition to do everything I needed to do the next day.
Thoughts that add nothing
Sometimes, no matter how hard we try to get rid of certain thoughts, it seems that they only get worse. We try to change the focus, to think of something else, but we still have that unresolved thing in us and with the other. It is at this moment that we often realize that the only one who can help us is the Lord, we already knew this before, but instead of going in search of the solution, we stay there mulling over thoughts and feelings that add nothing.
You see, we need to be humble, leaving our pride aside and many times going to God, without even knowing what to say, but surrendering that which afflicts us so much. The surrender may not be easy, but there are situations that we need a wisdom and understanding that only our Father can give us.
After all, he knows our thoughts and our heart better than we do, so there is nothing like putting everything in his hands and letting him guide us in every decision and thought. Usually when we find ourselves like this we have the will to solve something, but we can hardly do it late at night.
So there is nothing like sleeping, resting, and waiting for the next day to act calmly on a certain matter. After all, work will not be solved at dawn, bills will not be paid at this time, and many things will have to wait until the next day, but if you are tired, it will be much harder to do what is necessary.
Conclusion
The best thing to do when insomnia knocks at the door is to pray, telling the Lord the reasons why you can’t sleep and talking to Him. In the same way, we can read the Bible which has so much to teach us and in the book of Psalms we find several passages that talk about sleep.
God bless you!

Thank you so much for this devotional. I needed it so much. I had insomnia last night and my mind was wondering and was feeling anxious. Thank you for reminding me that prayer is given to us to communicate with our Father.
When I couldn’t sleep all night long, I sometimes find myself never prayed recently. I cannot sleep anyway so I tried to turn toward God and start reassociating with him. Everybody is sleeping, therefore there is perfect privacy with only you and God.
Someone told me when you can’t sleep, pray, and the devil will put you to sleep! Or maybe more correctly, he will leave you alone and let you sleep?
Amen. JESUS CHRIST WILL FIX ANY PROBLEM. AMEN
God bless you.
The Lord has always knowing what I need most He puts in your heart to send this message.
God is so good & right on time every time.

Thank you!
Thank you
In years past I have known this issue. This is what I know and what we must keep in the forefront of our minds and conciousness. Jesus is Lord and Our Father is King, they are still over all and will work everything out to benefit us. Repeating this to ourselves can give us peace. You have to be consistent in repeating nightly to retrain the brain. Or coat the mind with peace daily. Like an upset stomach several doses may be necessary. I pray that anyone that is upset or confounded, bewildered or bothered by current trials obstacles or conflict. That the peace of LOVE from Our GOD and his Son on his right side reward those that seek and speak with them consistently. Look at those times of trouble or anxiousness or lack of sleep as OPPORTUNITIES to speak with Them. Not as a rundown of what’s wrong but as a friend to a friend speak IN LOVE about ANYTHING…Laugh with the LORD about something funny that you saw or even better something fun or funny you PLAN ON DOING(projecting future thoughts of laughter and fun) just to shake out of a funk! GOD and your brother Jesus are YOUR FAMILY now. Smile with them(always say OUTLOUD what’s wrong and what you desire to happen in the situation) but afterwards try to think on “WHAT WILL MAKE GOD SMILE” maybe its a moment you can share then…..or an action for another you can do that will bring HIM JOY!!!! He will bring you Joy in Return! (I’m known for never making a promise I won’t or can’t keep and still I fail sometimes) This i can absolutely PROMISE!! Talk with him and smile with him sometimes in prayer just laugh with your father! Hard….I know in tough times but that’s why the action will be rewarded!
To GOD be the Glory!!
Peace to you, Amen
