Where your feet cannot reach, your knees bent in prayer will carry you

Where your feet cannot reach, your knees bent in prayer will carry you

Today I read this quote on a church’s Instagram and how much truth there is in it! You and I are strong when our knees are on the ground and it carries such beautiful symbolism, for this is a position of humility. You can see when there is a marriage proposal the groom kneels before the bride-to-be, in a humble gesture of demonstration of love, affection and care.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vanity, but humbly consider others superior to yourselves.

Philippians 2:3

So many times we see people trying to do everything by their own strength, acting for themselves and getting frustrated, failing, not getting where they expect, that’s because either it’s not meant to be, or it’s not the way it’s supposed to be. Acting in our own strength is tiring and discouraging, but fortunately we have a loving Father who renews our spirits and who, more than preparing us for battle, is by our side while we are in it.

A man’s pride humbles him, but he of a humble spirit obtains honor.

Proverbs 29:23

I will repeat the last sentence… more than preparing you for battle, God is by your side while you are in it! Unfortunately what happens and what we see out there are people who only seek God when the situation is tight, that is, out of interest. But this needs to be a daily, constant search, covering ourselves in fasting, prayer, and reading God’s word.

And there they will seek the Lord their God, and will find him, if they seek him with all their heart and with all their soul.

Deuteronomy 4:29

Which doesn’t mean that our life will be easier, but that our eyes and heart will be in the right place, that our mindset will be turned to Christ, the One who has already conquered the world and paid a high price for us on the cross. God is not a bank, nor an excuse for informality, “a genie in the lamp”, that you make requests and He accomplishes? He is God, powerful and omnipotent, who knows the right time for each thing and also knows what is best for you.

“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart. I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

So those who have humble hearts are strong, whose hope and assurance are firmly anchored in the Most High. You probably watched the Tokyo Olympics or at least saw some news about it, those athletes had to daily practice and with our faith it is no different. Something beautiful that I saw were countless athletes saying that without God they would not have made it.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, if there is anything excellent or worthy of praise, think about these things. Whatever you have learned, received, heard and seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:8,9

These people certainly have good physical fitness, but none of this would be of any use if their motivations and focus were not on what comes from above. So, may we as athletes prepare ourselves day by day by reading God’s word, praying and fasting.

God bless you!
