Have we tried to flee from the Lord? Have we tried to hide from our responsibilities to Him? There is not a single space that the Lord is not in.
Today I would like to talk about our responsibilities to the Lord! It is important to understand, embrace and fulfill the responsibilities we have as children of God!
Come on?
We have nowhere to go!
“Where can I go from your Spirit?
Psalm 139: 7-12
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.”
I think it is very important to make a correlation between our responsibilities and the Lord’s omnipresence! How does it work?
As we said in the last text on Communion, each of us has a specific responsibility in the kingdom. So, if each of us has something to do, it means that everything around us will cooperate to make it happen. And this is exactly where God’s omnipresence comes in.
He has a plan for each of us and will guide us to it! Several times I tried to escape from responsibilities that I had – from the most everyday ones like reading the Bible and praying, to delivering a word to someone or helping someone with something. But the Lord pointed the way and several times placed things and people in front of me, to talk to me in different ways.
We have resposibilities
Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.
“Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
“But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
“Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
“But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.
“Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
“For many are invited, but few are chosen.”
Matthew 22: 1-14
In this parable, Jesus talks about the Jews’ irresponsibility towards God’s call. For they did not heed God’s call when they rejected Jesus. Then, He says that now, through Him, the Gentiles also have access to the grace of God. Everyone received the invitation to the wedding banquet.
When I say that we have responsibilities, it is exactly thinking about this passage. The Lord calls us and has a plan to fulfill and, for that, He gives us responsibilities. The one who did not have the proper clothes was taken from the party.
If We do not heed the call of the Lord, it will not only hinder our relationship with Him, but also delay His purposes in our lives.
Therefore, We cannot be like those who rejected the King’s invitation. We need to heed the call and fulfill the responsibilities He places in our hands. However, always giving our best and doing it from the heart.

“All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”
Matthew 5:37
I would like to leave a final reflection here, more as a warning: should we not be more concerned with our responsibilities? Have we been intentionally and purposefully committed to God’s purposes for our lives? Or have we tried to rum from it?
We cannot let anything take us out of the Lord’s ways and of His plans!
