Praying for the joy that comes from God!

Praying for the joy that comes from God!

So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.

John 16:22

In Monday’s blog this week, we talked about the difference between happiness and joy, we saw that happiness is an emotion, unlike the joy that according to the Bible fills the spiritual void through an intimate relationship with our God. Therefore, happiness is a feeling of joy that depends on something good to happen, but our Lord wants us to be happy regardless of the circumstances.

Despite this, God knows that we will not be happy all the time, in fact there are times when we will be sad and everything is fine, but we cannot help but hope that better days will come. So, today I invite you to pray for a heart that overflows with the joy that comes from God!

Remembering that you do not need to repeat the prayer exactly as I am going to leave it here, as each of us has a specific way of communicating with the Lord. But if you want to accompany me, it will be a pleasure, feel free to speak your way.

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for being with me in all situations, for being my safe haven and not leaving me. I know that I often forget to thank you for the small and big things you have done in my life, but today I want to thank you for them, because the Lord has always been good and faithful to me.

I pray for a more grateful heart, that my being will overflow with the joy that comes from the Lord, sometimes my soul becomes sad and discouraged, but I know that you can turn every tear into laughter and today I ask you to do it. Cure me from all depression and anxiety, get rid of the things that keep me from moving forward.

I ask that all anguish, hurt, resentment, anger and guilt be transformed into peace, forgiveness, gratitude, love and joy. May my thoughts no longer torment me, but bring tranquility and joy, for I know that all worry and uneasiness are in vain if I have a Father who takes care of me at all times and I don’t want to forget that.

Lord, I ask that my joy be so great that those around me also rejoice and in this way I can be an agent of blessing in the life of those who go through a moment of sadness. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray and ask that my words come as a gentle perfume to the Lord!

Prayer of a mere servant of God

Psalm 33

Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth— he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.
