Prayer to One God

Prayer to one God

Our minds, in moments of sadness and turmoil, become weak if they are not established in Christ. Consequently, we begin to try to fill the void within ourselves at any cost, but we can never fill it with anything other than God and His life-giving Word. This prayer is based on the previous text Creating other gods.

You don’t need to pray exactly as I’m going to say here. I know that everyone has their way of talking to the Father, and it is important that we individually seek intimacy with Him. Therefore, feel comfortable talking to the Lord in your own way. But if you want, I will be happy to accompany you in this prayer.

Prayer

“Dear God, thank you for being complete. I appreciate that everything we need can be found in You.

Please don’t let me create other gods or prioritize dreams and projects over You. I don’t want to seek answers elsewhere. Keep me steadfast in Your word, following Your direction.

God, I ask for forgiveness for the times I’ve placed any other subject, place, person, or situation above You. Do not let my eyes stray from You, Father. Grant me discernment to identify and reject the idols that try to occupy the place that is uniquely Yours, and wisdom so that I do not create them based on my selfish desires and projects.

May my eyes be fixed on You, the only true God. Only the Lord can illuminate my steps and show me the correct path, leading to Your Kingdom. May my heart be in tune with Your will, seeking in You the fullness that no created idol can offer.

Lord, I do not want to replace Your eternal truth with ideas that soon pass and are lost. Establish my life and my thoughts on You. May the riches of this world not seduce me, taking me away from You, and may daily worries not distract me from loving You above all things. May I always remember Your first and greatest commandment: to love You with all my heart, soul, and mind, so that, from this, I can have access to all the blessings that You, Lord, has prepared for me.

Grant me, Father, a grateful heart for Your abundant grace and unconditional love. May my devotion be only for You.

In Your presence, I find true peace, and I don’t want to give up feeling You in every detail. May I always proclaim, with conviction, that You is the only one worthy of my adoration.

In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.”
