Prayer: Opening the Door to the Lord

Prayer: Opening the Door to the Lord

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.Revelation 3:20

As this passage reveals to us, the Lord desires to eat with us. I particularly like to have people over at home. I’m not the best person to decorate the table, but I like to separate my best glasses, cutlery and plates when I receive someone. That’s because my husband and I invite dear friends or people we want to be closer to to dinner at our house. Sharing a meal is a symbol of friendship or alliance.

Jesus wants to be with us. He has already chosen to love us and reconcile us to the Father. Before we chose Him, He chose us (John 15:16), bought us and forgave us. Direct communion with the presence of God was re-established in the work of Christ. He made us worthy to sit at the table with the Lord. But for that, first we need to choose Him and open the door to Him.

So let’s pray together making an invitation. May we open the door to every area of our lives so that the Lord can enter and have total freedom to speak to us, to act through us and to transform us.

Remembering that you don’t have to repeat the prayer exactly as I’m going to leave it here, because each of us has a specific way of communicating with the Lord. But if you want to accompany me, it will be a pleasure. Feel free to speak your own way.

PRAYER

Jesus my Lord, thank you for another day! Thank You for Your grace and mercy upon us. We thank you because the Lord chose us and reconciled us to you, even without deserving it, and today we can dwell in your sweet presence.

Dear Father, we want to invite you and open the door of our hearts to you. We want to eat with you and have full communion with You. Holy Spirit, You are welcome in all areas of our lives to work in and through us.

We want to submit all areas of our lives to You. Our emotions, our plans, our dreams, our relationships. First of all we want to have full communion with you to understand your will and prioritize it above all else. Because we know that Your plans are much better than ours.

We don’t want to live for ourselves. We want above all to live for You. May we do our part and prepare the house and the table to welcome you in every detail of our lives. Make your home in us. May we hunger and thirst for Your presence.

Thank you because you Lord have already knocked on our door and already chosen us. We have a grateful heart.

It is in the precious name of Jesus that we pray.
Amen!

Grace and Peace,
Gabi
