This week we talked here on the blog about not allowing ourselves to be moved by the flesh and today we will pray for forgiveness first and also for help from our Lord. After all, the flesh makes us empty promises and leads us astray.
In 2 Peter 2:19, it is written that man is a slave to that which dominates him. Therefore, when dominated by the flesh we let ourselves be destroyed by vices, which sometimes seem harmless and at other times not so much. We lie to ourselves with empty promises: “just today and I’ll stop”.
But today the day has come to put an end to this situation, let’s also pray for deliverance from all and any addiction, so that we can get closer to the Father, remember that to go to God you don’t need to be perfect, come to the Father and He will set you free.
I leave here a passage especially for you today:
He who lives according to the flesh has his mind set on what the flesh desires; but he who according to the Spirit has his mind set on what the Spirit desires. The mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace; the mindset of the flesh is the enemy of God because it does not, and cannot, submit to God’s law. Whoever is dominated by the flesh cannot please God. However, you are not under the dominion of the flesh, but of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
Romans 8:5-9
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:16,17
Remember that you don’t have to repeat the prayer exactly as I am going to leave it here, because each one of us has a specific way of communicating with the Lord. But if you want to accompany me, it will be a pleasure, feel free to speak it in your own way.
Prayer
Beloved God, first of all I come here before You to ask for forgiveness because I have failed. Sometimes I have done what my flesh wanted instead of doing what pleases You, and I feel ashamed for that, but I no longer want to live by my mistakes, but to find deliverance in You. I am flawed, I err, I sin against You, but I find myself willing to change this reality.
Lord, deliver me from my sins, cleanse my soul, search me, that my heart may be guided by You in the eternal way, and that there be no room for evil within it. Father deliver me from all addiction, for I know that carnal, momentary pleasure leads to death, when not physical, it leads to spiritual, emotional, social, or family death. Today choose to clothe me in self-control.
Heal my soul and may I have peace. I want to walk in holiness with You, to be whole in Your eyes, and to set an example wherever I go. May every evil force that has been trying to bring me down be rebuked now in Jesus’ name! Holy Spirit of God, come and dwell in me!
My God, Yours is the power, the glory, and the honor forever. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray, give thanks and ask that my words may reach the Lord like a sweet perfume!
Prayer of a mere servant of God
God bless you!
