Prayer: It’s time to slow down!

Prayer: It’s time to slow down!

Have you ever stopped to think how much hurry gets in the way of your day to day, fellowship and relationship with God? The rush can hinder our lives a lot, because when we are affected by it we fail to give due attention to what we need. These days I came across the following phrase: “If the devil does not make you sin, he will occupy you”.

I know it may seem like extremism, but think with me, when we are busy we do not have time for God, nor to exercise love for those around us. Because when we are in a hurry we get easily irritated, we want to solve everything running and certainly not how Jesus Christ acted with his followers and disciples. In fact, He did the opposite, dedicated himself to each one in a sublime way. So today, I invite you to pray with me, because it’s time for you to slow down!

Remembering that you do not need to repeat the prayer exactly as I am going to leave it here, as each of us has a specific way of communicating with the Lord. But if you want to accompany me, it will be a pleasure, feel free to speak your way.

Prayer

Dear God, I thank you for today, for my week, for your undeserved love and grace for me. I am grateful to You, because even when I am in a hurry and do not realize the wonders you have done, the Lord takes care of me in the details. Today I want to pray and ask for your help so that instead of rushing, I have calm and wisdom to deal with my responsibilities, with people and to have a daily relationship with the Lord.

I apologize for the moments when I didn’t give my best in my devotional moments, for the moments that even in a service my thoughts were on chores and concerns, and also, for not always giving the attention that people around me need. I ask that from now on be more calm to deal with my day to day and be more present in every moment.

Now, I pray and rebuke the enemy’s manipulations, who used haste to affect my relationship with God. I also pray to my Heavenly Father, asking him to help me identify tasks that are not contributing or adding anything, as I want to get rid of them and invest time in what really matters. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray and ask that my words come as a gentle perfume to the Lord!

Prayer of a mere servant of God

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth.

He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.

He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Psalm 46

God bless you!
