No more shame!

No more shame!

For those who do not know. Along with some texts I write for this blog, sometimes I make some more in-depth videos about the subjects posted and publish it on my Instagram profile. A few months ago, a follower shared one of these videos on his profile. With this, a girl found this blog and began to be interested in the content. At the same time, it began to feed her desire to know Jesus in a purer, non-religious way.

This woman eventually discovered the church to which I belong (Butantã Family Christian Church – São Paulo) and one day decided to visit us. After the service, she came to me and we talked about Christianity and how God had changed my life through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The look of happiness in her eyes that day was extraordinary. It was noticeable that this woman had just been impacted by the gospel only in the way she talked about how she had found herself.

I went home overjoyed that day. Even writing for a blog in an app with millions of users, I’m still a simple young man who barely understands what’s going on. So it’s normal that sometimes I don’t realize how much these texts are impacting people or helping brothers get closer to God.

I felt completely happy. Knowing that through a simple text, or through a simple video, a life has been transformed is amazing. Even better, it was being able to see this change in one’s eyes in such an unexpected way. I immediately understood the passage that says there would be a feast in heaven for a repentant sinner than for 99 righteous people who need no repentance (Luke 15: 7). My heart was in celebration at that moment.

An indescribable joy

This person, who was not from any other church, established herself in Christ. Began to study the Bible. Brought her family into the house of God and was baptized last Sunday. I had the opportunity to be with her at the baptistery and enjoyed an amazing time. I realized God acting through my life with things I do in such pleasurable ways. In this case, write, talk, edit videos and put some jokes on them. It just made me think a little more about God’s goodness. Or about how He allows us to be satisfied even in our earthly life. There is even a phrase from Pastor John Piper that portrays what I mean. “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”

Be sure to talk about Jesus

The night before this text, I did a little research on my social network. It struck me as almost unanimously that Christians who have already given their lives to Jesus and been baptized have the full conviction that they are already saved, are abode of the Holy Spirit and are already part of the Kingdom of God. However, most of these did not even evangelize ten people in the year and were never actively involved in converting a lost one. The biggest problems alleged are lack of courage, understanding and willpower.

Which would even be acceptable if the Bible did not say that the Holy Spirit has the role of being a helper who will teach all things. It is a source of life that provides encouragement for the walk.
The Greek word for “helper” means someone who stands by to meet every need and to help in all things. Which leads me to believe that, understanding the role of the Holy Spirit and knowing that He resides within us, there is no excuse not to speak of God’s love for us to people who are in need and needy of that love.

God will use what you have

No more shame! You don’t need the best theology or the best oratory to do that. Just use the things you love to do and put Jesus Christ at the center of them. Ask God for strategies on how to speak and never be ashamed. After all, it’s just a fear of being judged by people in our earthly life. Which is meaningless. We are foreigners on this planet and we will surely return to our home soon.

My wish and my prayer is that you may have more courage, compassion and love for those who are close and not yet saved. If you are ready to evangelize someone, you will surely experience an indescribable feeling and happiness. I also ask you to always pray for me and the entire Bible Offline’s team. May God’s will always be done first.
