I would like to bring a reflection to all of us in this moment of quarantine! Have we loved everyone around us the right way?
As many people are staying indoors with their family for almost full time in this quarantine period, disagreements end up happening. At some point we will disagree with those who live with us. Disagreeing is natural, but we need to be very careful and always base our relationships on what the Bible says.
Shall we talk a little about love? Come with me!
What does the Bible say about love?
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
1 John 4: 7-8
It is not new that we must love one another. The Bible makes it very clear, not only through Jesus’s commandments and teachings, but also through the disciples and apostles, that we owe others as we love ourselves.
Right. But what would it be like to love? What would it be like to show love? How to love? For this, Paul wrote the following:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”
I Corinthians 13: 4-8
Paul shows us not only how to love, but also and especially the characteristics of love! Love must be unconditional, genuine (without any ulterior motives), just, true, persevering and resistant.
We challenge you!
Knowing these things, we at the JFA Bible decided to leave a challenge for you: LOVE MORE AND SHOW LOVE!
Take the opportunity to reconcile with your family and strengthen your family ties! The Lord is happy to see love in our midst! So show more love: hug, treat with care, care, help and do the right thing!
Don’t skimp on loving! God, in love, created us. We must be like Him and love unconditionally, even if it hurts and even if it is necessary to give up our pride!
Jesus loves you, so pass this love on!
Grace and peace.
