Learning about the fruit of the Holy Spirit: Faith

Learning about the fruit of the Holy Spirit: Faith

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22 (NIV)

We are in the seventh text of the series “Learning about the Fruit of the Spirit”, in which we will delve into what is written in the Bible about the fruit of the Holy Spirit of God, mentioned in the book of Galatians. Today we are going to learn more about faith. I would like to start by leaving the passage of Ephesians 6:16 here: “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one“, then, remember that faith is the shield against flamed darts of the enemy.

Faith

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Ephesians 2: 8,9 (NIV)

I want to start this text by reminding you that faith is a quality that gives us strength to overcome evil and adversity. It is good to remember that faith is not just believing in God, because as it is written in James 2:19, “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that – and shudder“, but also in believing in faithfulness of our Lord.

So, as described in Hebrews 11: 1, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” When we have faith, we trust in our Father’s faithfulness, we have no doubt that everything God says is true and will happen, that is, it is not to doubt the promises made by the Creator.

One of the greatest examples of faith in the Bible is King David, but not everyone in his family had a faith like his, this is because he is not born with it, nor does he inherit such a quality, so David’s faith was the result of his relationship with God. This important person, meditated on the works of the Lord, valued the tabernacle and took pleasure in going there to worship, moreover, he always prayed to the Lord and wanted to be instructed in the right way, as described in Psalm 27.

And do you know the best part of it all? Like David, we can have our faith strengthened through knowledge of the word, study the Bible, have time to meditate on all that God has done in your life, because a grateful heart will, consequently, be a heart full of faith. Do not give up in adversity, be persistent, trusting that God does what he says, because your faithfulness lasts forever.

God bless you!
