How to heal a wounded heart?

How to heal a wounded heart?

The verbs wound, hurt, injure, and offend are applied when there is emotional suffering, which comes from the heart, for the heart as we know it is the center of emotions. Perhaps you feel or have felt unappreciated or rejected. These are wounds that can generate severe consequences in life, for a wounded person hurts another as well. So it is essential that we be healed and heal our hearts as soon as possible.

How is your heart?

I know that sometimes life can be hard, but do you know what? God is looking for a wounded heart to heal. We know that in this world we will have afflictions, so our heart must be protected from evil and in God we find healing. As it is written in Psalm 147:3, “He heals the brokenhearted and deals with their sufferings”.

A wounded heart finds no peace

“The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.” – Isaiah 32:17

When our heart is wounded the peace that we should find seems distant and do you know why? Well, in Isaiah 32:17 we read that the fruit of righteousness will be peace. When our hearts are wounded, a feeling of injustice arises and this destroys the tranquility of our souls.

Now talking about righteousness, it leads us to position ourselves in the right place. And the right place for a Christian is walking with Jesus, at the foot of the cross. So, as difficult as it is to practice forgiveness, Christ has forgiven us and teaches us to forgive. In addition to being the right thing to do, forgiving also brings peace to the heart.

We have an unchanging, stable and reliable God. When we are in Him, He takes care of our emotions, helps us to forgive and makes our words be full of love and truth.

In Colossians 3:15, Paul writes, “let the peace of Christ be the judge in your heart”. This is an instruction to let peace be the arbiter to guide our minds, wills, and emotions so that they stay in the right place.

Conclusion

Today I invite you to worship Jesus, talk to Him and tell Him what you want to be healed from. Bring to mind the person who offended you or the situation and release forgiveness, if possible also talk to them. Tell Jesus that you are wounded and ask Him to manifest His power over your life. The best medicine for a wounded heart is forgiveness, by forgiving we find peace. Remembering that peace is a person and that person is Jesus. He forgives, He loves, He cares? may His peace be with you!

God bless you!
