Going through trials with faith

Going through trials with faith

In this world you will have tribulations… Jesus said it in John 16:33, but in the same verse He says: “But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. Everyone who is alive has faced difficulty, because we live in a world fallen by sin, all humanity suffers, trials and difficulties arise in our lives, we do everything in our power to literally get rid of these bad ones, including asking God to deliver us from this adversity faced.

3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Romans 5:3-5

This is totally understandable, we don’t want to suffer, we all seek a full life, free from instabilities. However, there are so many things that God wants to do in us and through us through the trials we face. Of course, far be it from me to romanticize trials, and I say this with the short but intense experience on this earth of someone who has faced divorce from parents, illnesses that doctors said were hopeless, hunger, being an immigrant in a country, and having anxiety when she found herself living alone in a new city.

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

None of this was easy and there were times when I questioned where God was, why I was going through those adversities at such a young age and here is the answer, to be able to speak of His love and His glory, because in all of this God sustained me and was the solution. When my parents divorced I found my father’s security in our Lord, when I got sick when I was still very young I was healed by the name of Jesus and today I can testify about it.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

Romans 8:35

When famine knocked at my family’s door, I prayed and God sent help from where I couldn’t imagine, when my family found themselves in a dangerous situation abroad, our good God used a church to give us support, His children sheltered us and helped us to return to our country. When living alone and scared of this reality, in the silence of the night and the awakening of the morning I saw God shining and I felt embraced in every sunrise and sunset.

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

2 Corinthians 1:3,4

This text is not meant to talk about me, but today I felt that some people need to be reminded of the glory of our Lord and if my testimony can lead to learning and through it God brings comfort to your heart, then it was worth exposing the adversities I went through, because in them I was strengthened, just as God is doing with you, He wants to see you standing.

17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:17,18

He has not and will never abandon you, no matter what you are going through, be whole and faithful and from Him will come your help, know that He sees your cry and the trials are not to bring you down, but to strengthen you, after all, as it is written in 2 Corinthians 12:10, when I am weak, then I am strong. So may we seek God as never before and trust that He will sustain us.
