Attracted by the Presence

Attracted

I wasn’t born in a Christian home, quite the contrary. Whenever I tell our testimony, I like to say that we didn’t meet Jesus, He found us, or rather, He attracted us to Himself.

So many times we have the feeling that we are going after Him, but the truth is that it is very difficult for you to look at a church, a bible or whatever it is and say “I found Jesus”.

He finds us, he attracts us and when we realize it, we can say “I found what I needed”, not because we looked for it, but because He called us.

Moses and the Burning Bush

“Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush. As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed.”

Exodus 3:1-2

What was going on in this situation? Well, the title my bible gives to this text is “God Speaks to Moses” which if you think about it is the name of several passages in the Pentateuch, but what makes this one different?

God was calling Moses to fulfill one of his life’s purposes: to free the people from Egypt. It is in this chapter that we also have that famous dialogue in which God says: “I am who I am” (v.14).

“Then he said to himself: — I’m going there to see this great marvel. Why is the bush not burned?”

Exodus 3:3

The Lord drew Moses. He wasn’t looking for a burning bush, he wasn’t even looking for God. He was just leading his father-in-law’s flock westward when our Father drew him.

Something called to him. He didn’t know exactly what it was, he just wanted to see that wonder, but he still had that moment with God.

Asbury university

If you are very attentive to your social media, you should already know what has been happening in the United States, at the University of Asbury: a revival, with several testimonials from people who have gone to the place.

Reports say that the service had come to an end in the university chapel, but the young people present there did not leave and continued, for hours, and now for days. Reportedly, the same is happening at other colleges.

I saw the report of a person who said that she was a little skeptical about what was happening there and that he went to “check it out” and, when he arrived, he surrendered to the presence of the Father, in adoration and prayer with those who were there. Do you think this person was looking to surrender to the presence of God? Not only her, but several others went just to see.

We are often looking in the wrong place or in the wrong way for what is capable of quenching our souls. But when God’s presence really touches us, everything changes.

Our lives

You might say that you were born into a Christian home, that you were forced by your parents to go to church during your teens and that’s why you follow the Lord.

But let me tell you something, you being where you are has a purpose.

God drew my family to be where we are. He drew Moses to deliver the people from Egypt. God drew those people gathered in the United States to transform their lives and take them to places we could not imagine.

And you? Are you allowing yourself to be drawn to this God? Letting your heart be consumed by the love of the Father and burned by the overwhelming presence of the Lord?

You could be anywhere else, but you were attracted by a burning bush, you were attracted in a way that you may not understand. It was never chance, it was always God drawing His beloved children close to Him.

God bless you,
Ana.
