What have you done with what God has poured out on you?
We often seek instant fulfillment, asking for everything or new things immediately, hoping to feel needed. However, true fulfillment comes only from Him, and we can only attain new things when we learn to cherish what we already have. God desires to anoint what you already possess!
You already have the gift
“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.”
1 Corinthians 13:2
God will not give you something new if you do not value what you already have.
Routine makes us forget all that we have with us, everything we have received from God. We ask for gifts and more gifts, and we neglect the anointing. We long to be talented people, but when we have the ability to do something, we often think only of serving ourselves.
Seeking validation in something that should point to the Kingdom.
There is a very big difference between a gift and anointing. God wants to anoint us in our gifts; He wants to direct us to impact lives through our talents. Worship is not for you; worship is you!
Something was spilled
“In that day their burden will be lifted from your shoulders, their yoke from your neck; the yoke will be broken because you have grown so fat.”
Isaiah 10:27
A gift may fill an environment and provide entertainment for those who witness it. It can stir excitement and may even lead us to believe that a revival is taking place because of it. However, our hearts are deceptive, and only God can guide us correctly.
You don’t need to acquire more gifts; instead, you need to appreciate and develop what you already have and seek anointing.
It is the anointing that breaks the yoke. It is the anointing that lifts heavy burdens and connects us with the Lord. Oil enables us to remove these burdens from our shoulders and fosters genuine revival!
One of the meanings of the word “anoint” is to pour oil on the head. The only way to produce oil is through crushing. But if we refuse to be broken and molded by God, if we do not fully surrender ourselves to the Father, how can we expect to be anointed?
Crushed in secret
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
Romans 12:6-8
The desire to display one’s talents often produces highly skilled individuals, but only a few are truly anointed because they resist being broken.
One way to pursue this “breaking” is in private. It is there that God produces the oil and pours it upon us.
I’ve heard many people question whether certain talents constitute ministries. For instance, I’ve been asked if I believe dancing in church is inappropriate. However, I don’t see it as wrong; it can be a form of praise and worship, especially when it is also practiced in private with God…
If you only dance in church but don’t do the same in private with God, it can become mere performance on stage.
Singers sing. Dancers dance. Musicians create melodies for the Lord. PRAISE with your life!
If what you are skilled at is not utilized to worship God, then it lacks anointing.
Pointing to the Kingdom
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Colossians 3:23-24
