Sometimes we feel so tired, and what we hear most from people is about the weariness of daily life.
But there are many who are exhausted, thinking that by being in motion, they are heading somewhere, when in reality, they might just be walking in circles.
Reaching the goal
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
When we run without a clear vision, without aligning our steps with Christ’s, it’s like walking on a treadmill: we grow more and more tired, but we don’t move forward.
It’s precisely at this moment that discouragement sets in. The sweat of the journey, by itself, is no guarantee that we are on the right path.
There are paths that exhaust us and others that renew us. However, if we remain focused on Christ in both, we will learn and achieve our goals through Him. After all, weariness doesn’t necessarily mean we are accomplishing something, just as calm waters don’t guarantee that Jesus is in the boat.
We will experience both situations, but with Christ by our side, the destination is certain!
Walking in circles
“For forty years—one year for each of the forty days you explored the land—you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.”
Numbers 14:34
In Numbers 14, we see the story of Moses and the journey of the Israelites toward the Promised Land, a path that took 40 years to complete.
The journey through the Sinai Desert, which spans only 200 kilometers, could have been completed quickly. Today, this distance can be covered in about two hours by car.
The people didn’t take so long because of the distance but because they were distant from God. They walked in circles, murmuring against Him and doubting His promises.
It was a journey that could have been completed in a short time, but a misaligned vision causes us to waste energy, exhausts us, and yet fails to lead us to our destination. Thus, we run the risk of dying without ever knowing the Promised Land.
New perspective
“Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21
When we align our vision with God’s projects and goals, the impossible ceases to be an obstacle and becomes something natural. In God’s hands, the impossible becomes inevitable. His promises are magnificent, and often, they are fulfilled in such simple ways that they surprise us.
Walking with Christ completely changes our perception. We begin to believe even without seeing, and we start to see what was once invisible. When we rely on our own strength, we are tempted to give up because we are weak and limited. But the understanding and knowledge of Who God is radically transforms the way we choose to walk.
Choose to follow Christ’s steps. Not to shorten the time to the conquest, but so that each step becomes a certainty that the promises will be fulfilled.
