The last month of 2019 is approaching. Maybe you are wondering how fast the year has gone. These times, at least for me, it is common to think of so many things I wish I had done and not done so far. Some plans that were in my heart did not materialize. However, I am sure these did not happen because the will of God was aligned. I know that being in him, what will prevail is his purpose. And it makes me rejoice to know that all your will is good, perfect and pleasant.
Proverbs 19:21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.
Changes
However, I think some choices still fit us and can make our lives change and be very fruitful and enjoyable on those days left to close the year. Even though we understand that New Year’s Eve is just a day after another, like all the 365 ones, our minds like to raise expectations about the big changes that can happen. My idea with this text is to offer some suggestions for readers to practice this past month to hit the road.
Turn your attention to Christ
The first thing, of course, is the most important of all. Maybe I didn’t even have to write anything after that after all. Christ is all we need.
On the road to glory, of course, we have many difficulties. This year I had a moment of discouragement, many struggles, a feeling of devaluation and a lack of understanding as to where I should be. The key for me to change all this and have peace in my heart was to look back to Jesus.
Whether we are too involved in ministry or simply being hurt by people, when we are troubled and full of things in our minds, we cannot pay attention to what matters in the memory of Christ’s love for us.
A sublime love that makes the one who was right in everything take the blame for our mistakes and bleed and suffer to give us the possibility to access through the Holy Spirit the source of all peace, all joy and all love – In Jesus, these things are inexhaustible.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (27) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Fix things
In my short life experience I have seen the power of forgiveness a few times. I know it’s hard. After all, if it were easy, we would all forgive others at all times and there would be no pain in the world. Yet forgiveness sets us free and makes us feel the wonderful forgiveness of Christ.
Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Not only does the feeling of lightness and peace that follows forgiveness, we mend relationships that were once important to us, and only by abandoning pride can we improve some lives at the same time as we step on the head of satan, whose desire is that there really is no forgiveness. no peace among men.
Something that helped me a lot was an illustration of a pastor from my church one day. He said that in the relationship between Jesus and the world, the world was the one who was wrong. Still, the one who went after solving was Jesus. If I want to be like him, I will act like him. So it doesn’t matter if I’m right or wrong. I must give up my pride and do something God calls me to do.
Strengthen Your Relationships
On the other side of forgiveness, we have relationships that are going well.
This last month of the year is a good time to strengthen some friendships and family and church relationships. Time to send a warm message to your brother. Buy a gift for that person who helped you so much and didn’t give up on you all year long. Set aside some time on your schedule to go out, have dinner, have a coffee or chat. Among other things.
Friends and family are important to enduring the walk. Laughing and catching up on conversations can help you strengthen what you already have with people and also make you endure the fatigue of an entire year of work, study, or annoyance.
Take advantage of this past month to show your love for people who have been by your side at all times.
Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Go back to the Bible
Of course, we couldn’t set that aside, could we?
God’s Word is the best instrument for giving us peace and bringing us into alignment with the will of Him who called us. God is good, just and true. Listening to your voice through the Bible, which is the Word that comes out of your mouth, is crucial to having a great holiday. (And a great entry in 2020).
If you don’t know what to read and want an incentive, in the Bible Offline Reading Plans area, we have included new plans in partnership with Mundo Cristão, yesHEis, and also inserted a Christmas Plan for users to read from day one through the day twenty-five things related to the birth of our Friend and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Thanks
I can only mention briefly how happy I am for this year. Seeing various plans I had made that did not materialize and seeing where I am today and having the opportunity to talk to so many people about the love of Christ, I realize that God is really taking care of everything and that surely I could not do better without it. him.
