Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Where is your heart? This is an important question and that over time, we must look within and analyze: Is my heart really in the right place?
How to analyze our hearts
The meaning of the word “treasure” is a set of riches, so this Matthew 6 biblical text is telling us that our hearts will always be in what is precious to us. What is most valuable today? What makes our hearts beat faster? What has been our motivation each day?
These are questions that we need to ask daily and especially at decisive moments in our lives so that we can probe what our real intention is.
When we question where our hearts are, we must investigate and analyze what has defined our priorities. So, if we want to find where our heart are, we need to realize where we put most of our stengths and where we have spent the most time.
Our fruits are the result of what is in our hearts. Jesus said in Luke 6:45 that: A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
We need to align our hearts with God’s heart
The point is that we need to align our hearts with Jesus’ every day, renewing our minds on Him. So that, therefore, we can have a life of purpose and immersed in the truth of who He is.
As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.“Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Luke 21:1-4
In this passage, Jesus talks about the widow’s sacrificial offering who gave up everything she had and says that, therefore, she placed more than everyone else. Jesus in this passage criticizes the greed and hypocrisy of the rich who contributed to the temple, showing that it did not matter how much they were able to offer, but the attitude of the heart.
Often as human beings, without realizing it, we can value the wrong things. A man’s heart is deceitful, as it is written in Jeremiah 7:9–10. That is why we need to align our values with what is valuable to the Lord and what can bear fruit in the Kingdom of God. This way our hearts will be in the right place.
We need to say the prayer in Psalm 139 and ask God to see if there is any offensive path in our hearts so that He may lead us on the perfect and eternal way.
Conclusion
If our hearts aren’t in the right place, we aren’t going to live a life in the fullness of God. It is time to love God not only with words, but with attitudes. The more we build a life of intimacy with God every day, the more our hearts will be in the right place and at the center of His will.
