Last week I brought a text about Genesis 1, about you not despising your “Nothing”, because that’s where God creates, how the earth was created. Today I want to talk about a detail in the order of creation that we often miss: the Light.
“Let there be light!”
In verse 3 of chapter 1 of Genesis, on the 1st day of creation, God says “Let there be light”. Reading like this, we already imagine the light of day, right?
But this light of verse 3 could not be the sun, for it was only created in verse 14, on day 4. So what light is this? What is the source of this lighting?
Under a revelation
In Revelation 21:11, it says: “It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal”.
The first light in the world was not from the sun or a lamp, that first light was from the glory of God!! The light that illuminates everything was and is God himself.
In the last chapter of the bible, in Revelation 22:5, it says: “There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever”.
Earth didn’t need a switch that turned on an LED light in a beautiful chandelier. The earth needed God’s love shining above all, so that everything that would be created after that would function in a unique way, under the revelation of that glory. Just as darkness is the absence of light, where there is light there is no room for darkness. And this was dreamed of by Him first of all.
Nutrition comes from the source
Even before the world was created, God had already established a light on earth that never goes out. And we too were already in His plan, the Father’s dream was that this glory would also shine on us and from within us.
As said in Ephesians 1:4: “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love”.
When God forms man, He sculpts him out of the dust of the ground and breathes out life. We came from the Father.
Everything we take from its origin dies. It is at the origin that we find everything we need, just as plants need soil or fish need water. The Lord is the origin of man. When we move away from Him, we die, we disconnect from our origin and then our light goes out.
“I am the vine, you are the branches… Apart from me you can do nothing… If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you”
John 15:5 and 7
Shining through Him
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden“
Matthew 5:14
Remember the potential I talked about last week that is inside you? He came along with the life breathed by the Creator. Remember what was said in Matthew 5. It doesn’t make sense for someone to light a lamp and cover it, hiding it so it wouldn’t light anything. On the contrary, when we light it, we put it in an appropriate place, so that everyone can see the light and be enlightened.
Just as God did not withhold His light within Himself and chose to pour it out on a world not yet formed, so must you shine around you.
Potential is unspent energy, put it out. The same Father who is a source of light is also a source of life and provision. Transform into action what has already been deposited within you and allow this revelation to also illuminate the path of other people, bringing light to their steps.
