What does it mean to be the ‘salt of the earth’?

What does it mean to be the ‘salt of the earth’?

Have you ever eaten a food without salt? If the answer is yes, you know how bland and totally different flavor it is without it. And that’s what I want to talk to you about today: Being the salt of the earth

First, the salt in the dish

In Matthew 5:13 we see the phrase “You are the salt of the earth…”.

This condiment has the power to change the entire flavor of the food and enhance the qualities of the food. In this way, you were called to change the flavor of things.

You can transform people’s lives, the world around you, highlight for each one how the Father’s love is present around us.

For a long time I focused on this verse thinking it was too difficult. It felt like a lot of responsibility and something far away to be the salt for the whole earth. That’s because I forgot that the salt of the earth starts out being the salt of the dish.

With every pinch

I don’t need to be a person with all the talents and wisdom in the world to be able to salt something. I don’t need to charge myself to do something big, because just a pinch of salt changes everything. What you’re doing may seem small, but that pinch is changing the whole flavor and bringing transformation to those around you.

Start being the salt on the dish, salt the little, change the taste of the simple, and more and more God will empower you and give you more knowledge so that more people and places are impacted by your life.

To conclude…

Being that salt for everything around you starts with the ability to be salt for yourself.

We can only project to the world what we have introjected in ourselves, that is, we need to feed ourselves first of something in order to feed other people. So seek, be filled with the good word, with His love, pray for the light of the Lord in your heart. From your overflowing spirit, you will be able to share what you have lived in the Lord with other people.
