I’m sure you’ve heard the advice several times: “calm down, wait for God’s time, everything will be fine”, but it’s never easy to wait, quite the contrary, you always think that a certain thing should already be happening, but still nothing.
But don’t worry, I assure you it’s always worth it. I’ve been through some situations of God’s time not being the same as mine, and honestly? If I didn’t wait, I wouldn’t be ready to live what He gave me, I don’t regret waiting one bit.
Life is made of processes
“There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven:. a time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing; a time to search and a time to count as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away; a time to tear and a time to sew; a time to be silent and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace.”
– Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
This is a passage that summarizes very well everything I would like to tell you.
There is a time for everything, including what you want, but we have to go through the processes that God places in our path.
God knows exactly how to start and end the processes, His infinite goodness guides us and takes us through each season, so that, day after day, we can live what He has prepared. It’s interesting that even though He works in our individuality, everything He does overflows from us, so that it reaches other people.
Processes in the Bible
I like to think about how God worked with processes in the lives of different biblical characters, but I will only bring two examples here.
David was anointed king when he was just a boy (1 Samuel 16: 12-13), but his reign did not begin until years later. He knew exactly what he was called by God to be, maybe if he had run away or tried to accelerate the wait, he would not have lived with excellence what the Lord had deposited on him.
It is for this reason that understanding God’s timing and living in His will prepares us in the best way for what He wants to sow in us.
Another wonderful example is that of Jesus himself, who even though he was God himself, went through difficult situations, deserts, which were important parts of the process until the cross. Even tempted He was (Luke 4:1).
Situations like these are completely normal in the process, respect them and keep trying to live God’s purpose for your life.
Concluding…
Your process could be many things, God could have told you that you are going to go around the nations preaching His Word, that your wedding is coming, that you are going to move or anything else. Whatever it is: live the process intensely to receive, at the right time, what God has prepared for you.
Waiting is the best decision we can make.
