Surely you occupy a place of blessing in something. Maybe in your relationships, maybe in knowledge, maybe financially, in talents. Or in various things. Know that all of this is grace that was bestowed upon you. And these blessings that are upon you were poured out in abundance for you to share.
Every grace and gift begins in JESUS
As it is written in Ephesians 4:7: But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
Every grace and gift began with the generosity of Christ. He shared with us the authority of His name (John 14:13). He made us co-heirs with Him (Rom. 8:17), sharing His place as a Son (It was through Him that we became children). In Him we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms (Eph. 1:3).
From Jesus we have received so much and that cannot stop with us! When the Bible talks about blessings, the example of agriculture is used several times. When we take the result of a harvest, we can simply keep stocking and retaining for ourselves or we can reinvest the seeds in the soil for multiplication. When we multiply the blessings that are upon us by sharing them with people, in the Kingdom of God, the fruits are generated for eternity.
God wants to give us more than necessary
God pours grace abundantly on us and blesses us in an overflowing way so that we can just share what we have received from Him. The Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 9:8-9(NLT):
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the *Scriptures say: “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
*The passage of Scripture quoted in the above verse makes reference to Psalm 112, in which the psalmist describes how a God-fearing person behaves. In this Psalm we see that the fear of the Lord leads to a generous life. The person who fears is whole, honors God and blesses the community in which he is inserted.
This passage from Corinthians shows us that God wants to give us more than we need so that we can use that overflow to connect with one another, to bless one another. To live in church. God wants us to experience living in unity. That’s why the pouring out of gifts is different on each person, so that we are just complete in each other.
Most likely your friend is overflowing with something you need, and likewise, you may have something the person next to you is in need.
Start sharing today!
In your heart, begin to recognize all the blessings you have received from God. And start thinking about how you can share this with someone. Ask the Holy Spirit: what do I have that the person next to me needs?
Also think about how much other people have poured into your life. How much your church has blessed you and how important it was? This year my husband and I were so blessed by the church of Christ. My husband was hospitalized with covid and we received so much, in so many ways (gestures, calls, prayers, gifts, visits, etc). And that impacted us in a very profound way. It only increased my love for the church I belong to. And I hope that my husband and I can be good stewards of all the grace and love that we have received at that time and that we can multiply it all with great zeal and fear for other people.
Maybe you’re upset and understand that people or the church haven’t helped you at some point that you needed. But remember that you are church too and that you have certainly received a lot from one person: JESUS. Begin by multiplying what you received from Him.
Think how powerful this is: we are bearers of grace, blessings, forgiveness, power and love of Jesus. You carry the greatest good news in history that is Jesus. And what does God want you to do with all this? Share, be generous.
