[Series: Identity] Do I have a calling?

Another point in our life, which makes up our identity, is our calling.

But after all, what is this? How do I find my calling? Am I already doing something in the area of my calling?

These are questions I’ve asked myself several times, out of curiosity or fear of making mistakes. But I want to talk more about this subject with you today, in our penultimate text in this series.

We all have a calling

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith. If it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach. If it is to encourage, then give encouragement. If it is giving, then give generously. If it is to lead, do it diligently. If it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Romans 12:6-8

God has a plan for us since before we were born. He left a specific mission for each person in this world and invites us to act in a certain area. Our greatest and most important calling will always be to worship him above all else, but there is a vocational path that we can choose to follow. Usually away from these calls we feel empty, we feel as if something is missing and that where we are is not our place.

And that’s when we get lost, trying to take paths that aren’t for us, that aren’t our home. Only our Creator and Father can tell us what this calling is, which is part of our identity and who we are. We discover it only when we look to Him for the answer and wholeheartedly accept to follow His dream for us.

A gift or a talent?

The problem is that sometimes we have more than one gift and we want to choose which one is our calling, but that’s not how it works. Yes, He may call you where you already have a developed gift, something you’ve lived for forever, but for some people it may be in an area they haven’t experienced yet.

In one of the words given by Zoe Lilly, she said that her gifts have always been in the kitchen and painting, since she was a child. But as she grew older, she discovered that her calling was to sing. At the time, she said that she thought she was wrong, because she didn’t know how to sing and didn’t have a gift in that area. But God enabled her, called her to it, and after a relentless pursuit, music became her talent. Today she is known as one of the greatest worship ministers in Brazil. She is invited to minister in several churches, as well as being a worship ministry leader at her local church, Zion Church.

God used her where she least expected it and her life is a channel of blessings in the lives of many people through this.

Empowering the Chosen…

If God has called you, He will enable you. The Bible says in 1 Samuel that, among the brothers, David was the smallest, most frail and weak, discredited by his brothers and his own father. God didn’t wait for him to grow a few inches, build muscle, and go through a training period to be chosen. He was called as he was and chosen as he was.

Don’t worry, God doesn’t put you on a path where you can’t walk. David became a King, and the word of God often portrays him as a man after God’s own heart, for he was empowered by the Creator. He wasn’t born a King, but he was born with a promise.

Search for that answer if you don’t already have it. Be sensitive to receive this word from the Father and attentive to His call to you, even if it seems not to be that, trust, surrender and follow His voice.

We graduated from the Google Play Apps Accelerator 2026

We believe that technology and faith can walk hand in hand. This conviction has driven us since the very first day of the JFA Bible, and over the past few months it has led us to experience one of the most remarkable chapters in our history: we graduated with our new Bible AI app as part of the first global cohort of the Google Play Apps Accelerator 2026. We want to share with you not only the outcome, but also the behind-the-scenes journey of everything that happened. The invitation that changed our year At the end of 2025, Google launched the first edition of the Google Play Apps Accelerator, a pioneering global program that selected only 38 high-potential apps from around the world. Among them, only two were Brazilian, and Bible AI was one of them. We received the news with a mix of joy and gratitude. 12 weeks of the program During twelve intensive weeks, we immersed ourselves in masterclasses led by leaders in the global tech industry, one-on-one mentoring sessions covering everything from technical scalability to leadership, and exclusive conversations with experts from Google and some of the world’s largest technology companies. Prayer: Running from religious fear

In the previous text, we talked a little about religious OCD and how it takes our focus away from what Christ truly expects from us. Today, I want to invite you to pray with me about this subject, so that we may feel free in the Father’s presence, seeking Him with love, gratitude, and true peace. You do not need to pray exactly as I will write here. Open your heart genuinely to God. But it will be a pleasure to accompany you in this moment of prayer and seeking. Prayer Father, I know that many times my mind is filled with fear, guilt, and thoughts that steal the peace of my faith. I know that You do not want me to live imprisoned by spiritual anxiety, constantly trying to earn a love that was already given to me on the cross. Teach me to rest in You and to remember that Your love is not sustained by my performance, but by Your infinite grace. When intrusive thoughts come, when the fear of condemnation tries to dominate my heart, and when I feel spiritually overwhelmed, help me remember Your truth. Your Word says that I was not given a spirit […]
