Do not negotiate what cost the price of blood!
Several times to fit in places and intentionally approach people, we give up what we are and what we received from the Father. But He didn’t die for you so that you can use this truth only when it suits you.
Focus on him
“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires. To be made new in the attitude of your minds. And to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
Ephesians 4:22-24
Jesus paid with His own blood so that we could freely live out the identity we received through Him. Through his work we are children loved, cared for and protected by the Father.
However, in certain situations in our lives, we are so focused on feeling part of something that we lower ourselves to fit into scenarios that are not for us.
When I see myself in those moments where I start to negotiate my truths, I realize that this has almost 100% to do with fear of the future. It’s as if the place where I find myself is, in my perception, the greatest place I can reach and, if I don’t hold on to it with all my strength, it will be impossible to pursue something that comes close or is even better.
But God has already promised us that, being in Him, we will reach places that seem impossible to us.

“He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
Ephesians 1:5-7
We talk a lot about the pain of Jesus, who guaranteed us redemption by paying with his own blood. I can’t even imagine how He suffered. But we daily forget the pain of God in giving up his Son. Seeing him suffering for something that wasn’t his fault, for other people’s actions that didn’t deserve that sacrifice.
Even with all this surrender, from the Son and the Father, we always find ourselves in situations where we negotiate our identity, just like Esau. In those moments I imagine God looking at us, saying, “I have given up My Son to die. How can you not see my love as enough above all?”
…He is Father!
“For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Galatians 3:27-29
God didn’t do all this to drop you in the future, otherwise it would have been in vain. From the moment He called us “children”, He promised to be a Father for Eternity.
It’s normal to be afraid of the future, it’s a place we don’t know. But don’t let that fear erase your faith, don’t let it diminish your hope. We cannot allow fear to make us cowardly people who cling to what is just in front of them, without measuring the consequences.
The feeling that everything is organized at the moment does not mean that it will remain organized forever.
Esau killed the hunger that bothered him, but when he satisfied that hunger, he realized that he had exchanged his birthright for a dish of lentils. He traded something important for an immediate need.
Don’t trade your identity, your calling, for something that brings that false momentary sense of accomplishment. Many people who are lost would pay any price to have what you have already received by grace.
And it is your duty as a son to understand the value of it, to make other people also understand the price that was paid and the priceless value that it has.
