Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

What have you been feeding your soul with? Where have you sought refuge from the bad days? Distracting yourself on the internet? Drowning at work?
It is as if at all times, God was showing us that “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again.” That is, if you drink the things of this world, your thirst and your inner emptiness will never pass.
The real food, rest and refreshment for our soul comes from just one place: Jesus!
The essential water for us to live
He himself said that “whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life”.
Don’t get lost in fleeting and visible distractions. Refresh your soul with living water!
When the woman asked Jesus for physical water, He offered her spiritual water. We know that the human body cannot survive without physical water, just as the spiritual body cannot survive without spiritual water.
Jesus is the fountain of “Living Water”. He is our source of life, our sustenance of life and, essentially, our “life.” When we approach Jesus daily in prayer and obedience, we are blessed to drink from His presence. His presence is the gift of life. It is eternal life, and the very life for which they were created.
The water that satisfies our souls
Jesus is the source of living water that never runs out. He said: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7: 37-38). When we come to Him, He will give us to drink and we will never be thirsty again.
Therefore, accepting the fullness of the blessings that Jesus offers, we will be totally and permanently satisfied with the deepest thirst of the human soul. We will find peace and we will be a source of blessing to others, just as the samaritan woman has become a blessing to those in the city where she lived.
Nothing satisfies our soul’s hunger or thirst. The things of this world can only fill our physical thirst, but it will leave us empty in the end. However, the Living Water of God will satisfy our desire and thirst completely.
The woman at the well was in need of living water. She needed something that the world was not giving her. I needed a living relationship with the Living God. She needed to know Jesus Christ.
We have new life when we drink this water
Jesus had made a special trip through Samaria so that she would have the opportunity to find the source of life. He waited to find her at the well. All she had to do was drink.
Jesus offered her new life. Jesus offers abundant life. He came to solve the questions of her past. She understood and, leaving the pot of water, she returned to the city and told the people that she had found the source of Living Water, the Messiah.
When we want to participate in this living water and experience the divine source that springs from within us to eternal life, we should not be afraid. But believe with all our heart and develop an unshakable faith in the Son of God.
We must let our hearts search in earnest prayer and fill our minds with the knowledge about Him, forsaking our sins. And walk in holiness and harmony with the commandments of Sacred Scripture, and drink deeply of the living water of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
To conclude
Jesus is the answer to our life. The woman at the well found what she needed and so can we. We will be satisfied to drink the living water. All we need to do is follow Him. Jesus will transform our lives forever.
