We often read that we are children of love, of the One who is grace and mercy itself.
Today, I want to remind you that we are also children of faith, of the One who is hope itself, alongside whom we are secure. Several passages in the Bible speak of this, aiming to fill us with this divine faith, love, and grace.
Do not fear
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7
Faith does not accept doubts; it generates certainties.
It does not arise only afterwards, when we already know everything and have complete security in each step. It is born beforehand, in the darkness, when we cannot clearly see anything ahead of us.
I once read that anxiety is the fear that God will make mistakes. However, He never errs. We can have faith and fully trust in His word, even before we have confirmations, trusting that our faith will confirm what is necessary.
This is an invitation for you to trust and surrender everything to Him. God does not expect us to have a great faith in our own way. He desires that we have great faith, complete surrender.
Follow His voice
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
Romans 10:17
One way to generate faith in our hearts is through the Word, for it is constant and always fulfilled. Our guide for life is contained in that book, in God’s guidance and promises. The hope in our hearts is nourished and strengthened by it.
God calls us to have our spirits filled with this faith, and He expects from us a great faith, a complete certainty in His voice, just as His voice is full of certainty.
There will be moments when, due to difficulties and wounds, we will feel weakened. We will feel our faith dragging and struggling to stand. And that’s okay!
This too shall pass, and faith will make more and more sense. But don’t wait for everything to make sense before you can trust in Him.
He is greater!
“He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20
I want to remind you of another important detail…
When God said in the passage of Matthew that faith the size of a mustard seed works, He wasn’t encouraging us to have a small faith. He was emphasizing that the size of faith doesn’t matter. The Lord understands that we go through difficulties and are fragile. He expects us to place all our trust and faith, even if at times it seems small.
Just like the widow and her coins, understand that the Lord is not interested in grand quantities, but rather in your complete surrender, and that is already significant. God’s measure is different from ours.
Do not be frightened, do not allow circumstances to kill your faith. God is greater than all the uncertainties of the world.
