Prayer and decision

Hello dear readers!

Last week I told you one of my stories with God and how I came to stop here in this blog. Then I received in my Instagram several messages about the post “Where is your heart at?”, through which I saw, through comments and testimonies, many people being impacted by the Holy Spirit.

Among the messages, I was asked for many prayers. What struck me was the number of requests among them, so that I would call for a restoration in the relationship of these people with God. I was annoyed at how many people who for some details still hesitate to put their faith and their heart totally in God.

The Importance of Prayer

Throughout the Bible we see examples of people crying out and being heard. Prayer is extremely important and plays some essential roles in our life with God. We should always be aware that a relationship is built with quality time and good conversations. Therefore, praying to God brings you closer to understanding who He is and how He thinks. This makes us understand his ways and purposes and feeds our spirit. The neglect to hold conversations continually with God, as in a relationship with anyone, makes us lessen the intensity with Him and causes the Spirit to fade away within us. This leads us to weaken our faith and give space to the desire to be filled with things that are human in nature, and consequently to feed the flesh, which is insatiable and prevails against our spirit if it is not in full communion with God.

1Ts 5:17pray continually, (18) give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (19) Do not quench the Spirit”.

Mk 14:38 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak”.

Pray for others

Not only do we pray to strengthen our relationship with God. It is also important to pray for others at all times. Whether to release captives spiritually, heal or strengthen a brother, or to rebuke satan.

Jm 5:16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective”

I personally, that write you, have deviated from the ways of the Lord years ago. And I am very grateful to my mother, father, sister and some members of my old church. They prayed intensely for a few years so that I would be hungry and thirsty for the Word of God. I am quite sure that today I am writing this to you only on account of these powerful and effective prayers and the infinite goodness of the Lord.

Finally, decide!

We know that both praying to strengthen our relationship with the Father and strengthening the people around us is of paramount importance for the Lord’s Church to stand and for the Kingdom of God to be established through our actions. But this paragraph is more aimed at people who have had difficulty in relating to God.

I have faith that through the prayer of the righteous, many draw near to God and have their hearts fertilized and prepared for a life with the Lord. However, we should never forget that salvation, as well as the relationship with God, are extremely personal, individual and non-transferable. Christianity is all ruled in the word decision. The biggest problem is that many Christians do not decide to give up the passions of this world for Christ and eternal life. It is much easier to ask an extremely anointed brother to pray for his relationship with God than to choose to spend a little of his time closing the door of the room with the intention of talking for more than five minutes with the Lord and to read the Bible.

Gl 5:24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires”.

Paul refers not only to sin, but also to our spiritual neglect. Several times I hear about lack of time, sleep or lack of courage, but these things are no excuse when we decide and we set our priority as the Lord.

Gl 5:25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit”.

The right place

Throughout life, we are constantly called to make choices. Some seem obvious, attractive, and full of opportunities. Others require faith, patience, and trust in God. The problem is that not everything that looks good to our eyes is truly what is best for our future. The Bible shows us this through the story of Abraham and Lot, a narrative that remains extremely relevant for everyone who desires to live according to God’s will. Appearances can be deceiving “Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)” Genesis 13:10 There came a time when Abraham’s and Lot’s flocks had grown so much that the land could no longer support them together. To avoid conflict, Abraham proposed that they separate and gave Lot the opportunity to choose first where he would go. Lot saw a place that, from a human perspective, seemed like the perfect choice. The plain was fertile, abundant, and promising. Everything pointed to prosperity. But Lot evaluated only what he could see. He observed the appearance of the land but ignored […]

Prayer: Running from religious fear

Prayer: Running from religious fear

In the previous text, we talked a little about religious OCD and how it takes our focus away from what Christ truly expects from us. Today, I want to invite you to pray with me about this subject, so that we may feel free in the Father’s presence, seeking Him with love, gratitude, and true peace. You do not need to pray exactly as I will write here. Open your heart genuinely to God. But it will be a pleasure to accompany you in this moment of prayer and seeking. Prayer Father, I know that many times my mind is filled with fear, guilt, and thoughts that steal the peace of my faith. I know that You do not want me to live imprisoned by spiritual anxiety, constantly trying to earn a love that was already given to me on the cross. Teach me to rest in You and to remember that Your love is not sustained by my performance, but by Your infinite grace. When intrusive thoughts come, when the fear of condemnation tries to dominate my heart, and when I feel spiritually overwhelmed, help me remember Your truth. Your Word says that I was not given a spirit […]
